If you are going to speak out against cruelty to animals, it's important to be articulate and offer alternatives. Check out these links for more information:
- The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine offers information on dissection alternatives, including a cost analysis of animal dissection versus alternatives. This will give you a basic idea of the alternatives that exist and how much they cost compared to using animals.
- You can download The Use of Animals in Higher Education: Problems, Alternatives, and Recommendations by Jonathan Balcolmbe, Ph.D., for free! This book is an excellent and thoroughly researched resource.
- Check out this link for information on how the use of alternatives helps students learn just as well as (and often better than) animal labs.
