Each year, PETA selects top student animal rights activists from around the country to participate in our Leadership Program, an intensive mentorship program that trains the future leaders of the animal rights movement. Leadership Program members work closely with PETA employees to create policy reform that eliminates animal exploitation and suffering.
Receive Academic Credit
Students register their Leadership Program participation for academic credit with their college or university as a way of integrating animal rights activism into their academic curriculum. This allows students to dedicate greater amounts of time and energy to the animal rights movement while still pursuing their undergraduate education.
Get Advanced Training
Each Leadership Program member is paired with a PETA employee who serves as a personal mentor and advisor. Through biweekly telephone calls and meetings at national/regional animal rights conferences, on-campus interns will be trained to build a campus organization, conduct fundraising, facilitate effective meetings, plan strategic campaigns, organize demonstrations, work with the media, and influence campus decisionmakers.
Gain Access to Resources
As a Leadership Program member, you will gain unprecedented access to activist resources:
- Free supplies of educational stickers, leaflets, posters, stencils, and videos
- Costumes, banners, and signs for demonstrations
- Professional media support for your demonstrations
- Free admission to national and regional animal rights conferences
