Newsflash: You cannot and should not live your entire college life on salads and tofu. Other than the fact that it's a little weird to eat the same thing every single day, there's just too much great vegan food out there waiting to fill your stomach. So instead of sitting around waiting for the Vegan Fairy to pay your dining hall a visit, here’s a simple five-step program for success!
Step 1) Go to your cafeteria and find the comment box, or search the school’s Web site for dining services.
Step 2) Drop a comment card or e-mail to the general tune of the following:
To Whom It May Concern,
As a student at (insert your college's name), I am writing to ask you to please increase your selection of vegan and vegetarian options. Products such as soy milk, veggie burgers, and fake meats are available from distributors across the country and would be a hit on campus with the many students interested in the benefits of a vegetarian diet and healthy eating in general. More than 25 percent of college students identify themselves as vegetarian, so there would be a huge market for these products. Please visit VegAdvantage.com to request more information, or let me know if I can help with this process. Veg Advantage is a vegetarian-menu consulting group that can connect you with products, assist in developing recipes, and help brainstorm menu options. I'm really hoping that we can work together on this as soon as possible. Thanks in advance for your consideration.
Sincerely,
(Your Name)
(Your E-Mail)
(Your Phone Number)
Step 3) Get five friends of yours to do the same thing!
Step 4) Report your action and the number of friends who helped out by e-mailing me. Make sure you're on the Street Team so that you can earn 1,000 points toward getting free stuff.
Step 5) Invite the peta2 staff over for dinner when the amazing vegetarian options start rolling in.
E-mail me at College@peta2.com if you need any further help "veganizing" your dining hall. Don't forget to check out all our helpful tips about adding vegetarian and vegan options here.
