Goldfinger is huge internationally, too. We received this report from Fiona in the PETA UK office from Goldfinger’s last tour:

"Everyone at PETA was over the moon when Goldfinger asked us to table at all their U.K. gigs—Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Bristol, Southampton, Norwich, and London Brixton Academy. I did a couple of the gigs and am still riding high on the brilliant experience. John (lead singer) also asked us backstage on the last night and chatted with us about veganism, etc. He is such a cool bloke!

"After each gig, lead singer John, along with Darrin and Brian, came over to the stall to sign fans’ tickets, T-shirts (arms and legs!), and copies of ‘Why Vegan?’ Nothing could have prepared us for what happened next ...

"At every single gig, the table was mobbed with fans, climbing over each other to take away the goodies that John was dishing out. We had never experienced anything like it before and were amazed to hear zillions of young fans chatting away about animal rights, veganism, and the band’s impact on their lives.

"On the last tour date in London, John decided that although the Academy was closing, he could still do more leafleting outside, so he dashed out amongst the throngs without security. Luckily, he wasn’t crushed to death and invited PETA activists backstage to chat about animal rights, veganism, and music.

"At the end of the night, he passed on this message ...
‘I would love to say thanks for the great response and respect the kids gave to the movement!’"
