If youve read the first paragraph of any article on AFI, you know that singer Davey Havok is straight-edge and vegan. Reporters tend to love to bring it up, and thankfully, Davey loves to indulge them. In fact, in a recent interview, Davey completely won our hearts over when he said, I do not consume any animal products but I do not connect that to my edge.
I certainly would encourage anyone to explore a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle ... I think we must begin with the betterment of humanity which would then naturally result in compassion for animals. Better still, Daveys worshipful fans (yes, we mean that literally), known as the Church of Havok, follow a select list of beliefs and rules that all followers must abide by, including,
we shall all follow a vegan diet. Hey, whatever gets the word out, right? Lastly, a tip for future Havok admirers: Davey reportedly adores when fans bring him vegan treats, particularly muffins and cookies. Apparently, the way to a vegan mans heart is still through his (buff) tummy!
The newest It girl on the scene, Hilary Duff, has a seemingly endless amount of talent. Her previous TV show, Lizzie McGuire, was a smashing hit and her current success resides on the big screenshe starred in The Lizzie McGuire Movieand within the recording industryher debut album Metamorphosis was just released. The fact that shes young, charming, and stylish rounds out the pretty, pink package quite nicely, wed have to say. It doesnt end there, though. Apparently she has a big heart for animals, too. Shes stated numerous times that shes a strong animal rights supporter and has commented, when asked what she would be doing if she werent a celebrity, I always wanted to be a veterinarian when I was younger, but then I figured out that animals actually die there, so that was not the job for me. Definitely something with kids or animals or something like that. Her border collie, Remington, and fox terrier/Chihuahua mix, Little Dog, must be thanking their lucky stars!
She may be a pop princess, but shes still got an edge. We discovered how cool P!nk really is when she agreed to appear on a poster for PETA in order to mark the beginning of a No Fur policy at hip New York club Centro-Fly. She didnt stop there. After reportedly serving veggie dogs at her birthday bash, the sexy singerwhos dating the equally delectable motocross legend Carey Hartmost recently wrote two letters that mustve made the recipients hearts stop for a few squeamish moments.
In early August, shortly after learning that Prince William wanted her to perform at his 21st birthday bash, P!nk penned a delightfully sassy letter to the notorious hunter, who counts foxhunting as a hobby. In the letter, P!nk commented, Hopefully youll have a change of heart and find more interesting things to do with your spare time than kill animals.
Then maybe Ill come play at your next birthday
Ouch! It gets even better. P!nk sent a handwritten letter to Vogues editor, Anna Wintour, right before the September issue hit the stands, an issue that was expected to be the furriest of the year. She urged the notoriously fur-pimping Wintour to drop fur promotions from the magazine, writing, If your readers knew the horrors that these animals go through to supply a hairy swath of skin, coated with chemicals to stop it from decomposing, they would gag. Wont you use your unique position to help fashion evolve rather than rot? We couldnt have said it better ourselves!
