Vegan Shopping List Cheat Sheet

This shopping list will make following your two-week vegan starter menu a little bit easier—we’re giving you the rundown of what specialty vegan products are needed for the mobile menu and where you can find them. For example, did you know that Target sells vegan burgers? Yup! Check out the cheat sheet below!

Specialty vegan products you’ll need:

  • 1 jar vegan mayonnaise (try Vegenaise or Just Mayo brand)
  • 2-3 containers vegan yogurt (try Silk or Kite Hill brand)
  • 1 pkg. vegan chicken patties (try Gardein, or Boca Spicy Chik’n Patties)
  • 1 pkg. Gardein beefless or chickenless sliders
  • 1 pkg. vegan beef crumbles (try Boca Veggie Ground Crumbles or Beyond Beef Crumbles)
  • 1 pkg. veggie burgers (check the frozen-food aisle—we like Gardein or Boca brand—or use a leftover vegan chicken patty for your burger to save money)
  • 1 pkg. vegan chorizo (try Soyrizo brand)
  • 1 carton soy or almond milk (we like Silk, Almond Breeze, and Califia Farms brands, but most stores also sell an affordable generic brand)
  • 1 pkg. vegan meatloaf (try Gardein Home Style Meatless Meatloaf)
  • 1 pkg. vegan meatballs (try Gardein or Beyond Meat brands)
  • 1 pkg. vegan chicken breasts (try Gardein Lightly Seasoned Chick’n Scallopini)
  • 1 pkg. beefless strips (try Gardein Sizzling Szechuan Beefless Strips)
  • 1-2 bags vegan cheese shreds (try Daiya brand’s cheddar, mozzarella, and pepperjack styles)
  • 2 pkgs. tofu (extra-firm is our recommendation!)
  • 1 can vegan lentil soup (try Amy’s brand)
  • 2-3 vegan food bars (try Clif or Luna brand—look in the vitamin aisle!)
  • 1 container vegan margarine (try Earth Balance or Smart Balance brand)
  • 1 pkg. vegan turkey slices (try Tofurky brand—we ♥ its oven-roasted and hickory-smoked styles, but it also offers Italian style, bologna style, and more)
  • 1 box vegan mac and cheese (try Earth Balance’s white cheddar style or Daiya’s cheddar style)
  • 1 container vegan sour cream (try Tofutti brand) (optional)
  • 1 pkg. vegan pepperoni slices (try Tofurky brand) (optional)

Most of these can be found at your local Whole Foods or other health-food store. Trader Joe’s also sells some of these items, and Target sells Gardein, Beyond Meat, and Sweet Earth brand vegan meats as well as its own brand. More and more grocery chains, including Kroger, Ralphs, Vons, Safeway, and others, are carrying vegan meats and other cruelty-free products, too.
