Further Seems Forever (FSF) has been labeled a Christian band (yes, the band is made up of Christians, but they don't use their music as a platform for their religious beliefs). They've been deemed emo, thanks to their emotionally charged lyrics and their melodic leanings (labels, shmabels). And, shortly after recording their first album, The Moon Is Down, vocalist Chris Carrabba left the band to pursue his solo project, Dashboard Confessional, causing speculation that FSF was screwed. (They've held their own since then, thank you very much, with the Spring 2003 release of How to Start a Fire featuring lead vocalist Jason Gleason.) But, we're not here to pigeonhole or create more tall tales. Nope. We're here for one thing and one thing only-Derick.
Guitarist Derick Cordoba is a part-time vegan and full-time vegetarian, and we love him for it. We had a chance to meet up with him at last year's Take Action Tour, and not only was he incredibly gracious and earnest, as most emo boys are (kidding, kidding), he also didn't ramble, mutter, go off on tangents, or start talking about things that made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Instead, he tackled the questions thoughtfully, and the end result is a breezy interview that we barely had to edit, and that meant less work for us. Yes, we love Derick. And now you can, too.

| Derick likes long walks on the beach and interesting conversation and writes poetry in his spare time. Oh, yeah, he's also the guitarist for Further Seems Forever and enjoys eating veggie burgers at midnight. Click on the picture to view the video. |
