Everyone's favorite funny man, Andy Dick, has something
serious to say about dissection. He wants students
to know that they have the right to refuse to
pick up a scalpel and slice into an animal without
being penalized. Sadly, many students aren't
aware of this fact, so Andy agreed to help us
spread the word by starring in peta2's newest
ad, which tells students to "Cut
Class, Not Frogs".
Every year,
millions of cats, frogs, fish, rats, worms, and other animals suffer
terribly before they are killed and shipped off to classrooms so that
students—some as young as kindergarten ... yes,
kindergarten—can cut them open and look at their insides. You
know, so they can learn about human anatomy. PETA's
undercover investigation of one major biological
supply company revealed shocking acts of cruelty to animals. Workers
were caught on video
cramming terrified cats into overcrowded cages,
spitting on rats who were writhing in pain, drowning rabbits, and
embalming cats while they were still alive.
Animals don't donate their bodies to science like you or I
may choose to do, so where do the animals come from, you may ask?
Good question. Some animals are purchased from factory farms and fur
farms, and others are bred specifically so that they can be killed
and dissected. And some animals are rounded up by people called “bunchers” who
get their animals by answering "free-to-good home" ads,
catching strays, and even stealing animals from people's yards.
You
can help put a stop to this by taking Andy's advice and exercising
your right to refuse
to dissect animals. For more info about what you can do to help animals,
