The past year has been even busier than usual for our buddy Carl Schwartz, who recently made his exit from hardcore outfit Terror so he could devote all his time to his former side project, First Blood. Their highly anticipated full-length debut, Killafornia, has just been released, and it was definitely worth the wait.
When last we saw Carl, he was busy touring and working on his Web site, vegan411.com, and it seems that some things never change, because that’s exactly what he was doing when we recently caught up with him on the road. Making the leap to front First Blood full time is definitely a move we all approve of—and one that hardcore fans and critics everywhere seem to agree with, because the album is getting killer reviews and First Blood’s devotees are turning up in droves at their shows. Carl claims he’s not a fighter, but you’d never know it from his hard-hitting lyrics, which are all about sticking up for the underdog (or “underchicken,” as the case may be), standing up for what you believe in, and thinking about the way you treat others. In fact, Carl’s got a lot to say about health, veganism, KFC, and vivisection, too, so we’ll just let him say it.
