Hawthorne Heights guitarist Casey Calvert is the latest person to join the ranks of activists from around the world who are working together to let people know that if they’re eating at KFC, they’re supporting abuse that would be illegal if, instead of chickens, dogs and cats were the victims. In a new video for peta2, Casey calls on consumers to boycott KFC until the company agrees to make simple improvements in the way it treats animals.
In the video, Casey asks, “Did you know that many of the 850 million chickens killed for KFC’s buckets each year have their wings and legs broken and are scalded to death while they’re still conscious?” He continues, saying, “Probably not, because KFC doesn’t want you to know.”
In fact, there are quite a few “minor” details that KFC has neglected to disclose. Most notably, the company has done nothing to address the very worst abuses that chickens suffer in KFC suppliers’ factory farms and slaughterhouses. The world’s leading animal welfare experts have even weighed in, giving KFC detailed scientific recommendations based on the latest research—but KFC has refused to listen to them.
Casey joins a long list of celebrities who are calling attention to KFC’s cruelty, and the results are in—KFC’s sales have dropped since the launch of our campaign, and they’ll continue to drop as more and more people learn about the abuse that KFC endorses. So why don’t you help make a better life for chickens a reality by joining Casey and pledging to boycott KFC?

In addition to boycotting KFC, we’ve come up with a few more ways for you to take action against the fast-food Neanderthals. The added bonus? You can earn free stuff while you’re at it!
