Christiane J. and Bobby Alt take over the Warped Tour.
|
Envisionas best you cana band that can mercifully pull off a sound that coexists somewhere between the Pixies and The Sex Pistols, thanks to an innovative blend of high-voltage lyrical sincerity and balls-to-the-wall punk zealotry. Add to the mix fun words like aggressive, dangerous, volatile, and incendiary before finally tossing in a bit of experimentation and you’ve got punk circa 2003 in one single acronym
S.T.U.N. Do not take your eyes off this foursome.
Formed three years ago in L.A., S.T.U.N. has set this summers Warped Tour on fire.
Evolution of Energy, S.T.U.N.s Geffen/Interscope debut which reared its head in late June of this year, runs on adrenaline and melodies, without regard to tradition. What makes this group even more promising is that its not afraid to deliver a message, both through its lyrics and music, calling the political undertones thread throughout its album central to its music and to the group as a whole. The groups name, after all, stands for Scream Toward the Uprising of Non-Conformity.
The only thing cliché about S.T.U.N.'s music is the word well
use to describe itrefreshing. Theres no preening for the cameras,
no posturing, and no fanciful aesthetics. They even manage to pull off
the political thing while still drowning our senses in exuberant chaos.
Thats why we knew we had to talk to these guys. And wouldnt
you know it? Singer Christiane J. and drummer Bobby Alt are vegan. Of
course. We caught up with them at the Warped Tour earlier this summer,
so check out their interview and then visit www.stunmusic.com
to see when you can catch their next show. Seriously, you dont want
to miss it.
