This year’s Warped Tour was unlike any other. Given that we’ve been doing this for several years now, we’re used to waking up at the butt-crack of dawn and wandering bleary-eyed into obscure muddy fields only to prop up our tent and await the chaos. Sure, the rest of our days were spent rubbing noses with the best of ’em—bands, skaters, and activists alike—but we always felt like there was something missing. … Ah, yes! A camera crew!
Yep, this year, it was our turn to be in the spotlight. After four summers spent glamorously peeling the burnt skin from our shoulders while trying to keep trench foot at bay, all while getting into a hell of a lot of raucous debates (we won all of them, of course), we felt that we deserved the attention. In fact, it’s long past due. So, we invited documentary film team Dave Bergthold of Blockhead Skateboards and pro-skateboarder Laban Pheidias to capture our every move (and, yes, we mean our every move): behind-the-scenes footage of bands, backstage after-parties, impromptu demonstrations, adventurous bus rides, and encounters with the likes of pro-skateboarder and PETA supporter Jen O’Brien along the way. The end result is Wake Up Screaming, a documentary that will hit the independent film circuit next year, with the hopes of tuning in and turning on even more passionate activists-in-the-making.
But don’t worry. Just because we have a sequence of photographs projected onto a screen with sufficient rapidity to create the illusion of motion and continuity doesn’t mean that we won’t give you an old-school sneak peek of your favorites, such as Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein, and Gratitude. So kick back and take a journey through our Warped Tour ’05 photo album.

Finally, we highly recommend making WakeUpScreamingMovie.com your homepage. Because, all bias aside, you really don’t want to miss what we’re up to. If you keep checking back, you’ll continue to find even more behind-the-scenes photos with bands like My Chemical Romance and Avenged Sevenfold, as well as sneak previews of the film. Who knows, perhaps you were captured on film while romping about your local Warped show or visiting the peta2 tent?
Heads up: By signing up here and giving us your details, we’re taking that as acknowledgment that you’ve read and agreed to our privacy policy.
