Why did he insist on cramming more into his already-cramped schedule? Because he wants everyone (yes, that means you!) to know that a cruelty-free lifestyle is the way to go. You see, Derick doesn’t believe in supporting the factory-farming industry. He doesn’t believe that cows’ throats should be slit or that chickens should be scalded in boiling water, often while they are still alive, just so that he can eat a piece of their flesh. As Derick improvised in the PSA, “It’s dead, dude. Don’t eat it!”

Similarly, Derick also doesn’t believe in using products that are tested on animals. He thinks that blinding rabbits by dripping caustic chemicals into their eyes or poisoning them to death by force-feeding them toxic substances is just wrong (not to mention unnecessary, given all the humane alternatives, such as virtual organs, that are available).
