Winter is here, and along with it comes snow, ice, and cold noses. Before you retire to your bedroom to ride out these next few months under a pile of fleece blankets, check out what cruelty-free fashions will keep you looking hot!
For Him
Here are my top five picks for looking good this winter for the fellas:
1. Velvet isn't just for paintings of Elvis and Boratesque tracksuits anymore! Keep nice and toasty in Triple Five Soul's Yukon Herringbone Velvet Jacket. Don't shun the velvet—embrace it.
2. Nothing says "Let's sit next to a roaring fire and sip on some Silk Nog" like a cardigan. That's why I highly recommend Urban Outfitters' Charles 12 Pieced Cardigan.
3. Vests are coming back, and they're coming back with a vengeance. So if you're feeling fancy, a fine example of a top-quality vest is Urban Outfitters' Fink Ginsberg Vest.
4. With winter's darker days comes darker jeans (they help hide the slush stains). I quite like Forever 21's Dearborn Dark Denim Jeans.
5. For the feet, invest in some nice nonleather loafers, like Alternative Outfitters' Rover Tan Vegan Slip-Ons.
For Her
Don't worry ladies—I haven't left you out. Here are my top five picks for winter that will keep you warm and looking hot:
1. You don't have to be strolling along the Seine to rock a beret. A floppier version of the original has been popping up in every storefront this side of the Atlantic. My favorite is the Deux Pointelle Beret for its interesting knit pattern and for the lack of cruelty to sheep in its production.
2. Sick of having to wear pants every day of winter to keep the cold at bay? Well, your prayers have been answered. Enter the sweater dress. I especially love Paul Frank's Vanessa Sweater Dress number.
3. Pair any dress or skirt with some opaque tights to show off those gams while keeping nice and toasty. See Alloy's Solid Tight Set to get started.
4. A first fallen snow is oh so lovely, but when it turns to slush, it's oh so cumbersome. Get yourself some nice boots to trudge your way down the street without getting soaked. I love Delia's Quilted CJ Boot. Oh, how the words "faux suede" make my day!
5. Fake leather has come a long way. The overly shiny plastic look is out the window. For proof, see Alternative Outfitters' BB Dakota Black Pleather Jacket.
