Do You Have the World’s Kindest Dad?
Does your dad refuse to take you to the circus because he thinks that
it’s cruel to use animals for entertainment? Does he constantly
tell you to eat your veggies or take the dog for a nice long walk? Does
he know that real men eat tofu? Yes? Well, here’s your chance to
thank him.
Show your dad how much you admire and respect his kindness and compassion
for animals by writing a letter, explaining why your dad is the world’s
kindest, to the editor of your local paper. It’ll mean so much more
to him than ties, tools, or trinkets.
Your letter will also inspire dads everywhere to be models of compassion
to their own children. Teaching children empathy for animals is an important
part of combating school violence and molding kids into caring adults.
We know that many of you could probably write an entire novel about how
your father always stops to rescue strays on the street, grills a mean
Boca Burger, buys his aftershave from a cruelty-free company, and only
hunts with a camera, but you don’t have to write more than a paragraph.
Write about the kind things—large or small—that your dad has
done to help make you the caring person you are today. Click
here for some writing tips.
