By selling fur, J.Crew supports an industry that tortures and kills hundreds of millions of animals each year. In their high-rise office in New York City, J.Crew executives have the luxury of not having to see all the dead bodies of rabbits, foxes, and coyotes who are skinned alive for their tacky clothing, so we think it’s time to bring the funeral procession right to their desks. We want you to send CEO Millard Drexler a bouquet of dead flowers and a card telling him what you think of J.Crew’s cruel clothing line.
This September, PETA launched JCruel.com, kicking the campaign against J.Crew into high gear. J.Crew previously assured PETA that it did not sell fur, but in the summer of 2005, PETA learned that J.Crew will be carrying fur this fall. PETA has contacted J.Crew officials repeatedly and sent them a video containing recently released footage from a yearlong undercover investigation on fur farms in China, where most fur comes from, to show the company why consumers are infuriated to find products made of fur on the stores’ racks. But J.Crew has refused to follow the example of top fashion retailers like Forever 21, H&M, Gap, and others that show their compassion by choosing not to sell fur. J.Crew stands idly by while rabbits, coyotes, foxes, and other animals suffer through horrible lives and torturous deaths. What is J.Crew waiting for?
Here’s where you come in—find a field near your house where you can pick a nice arrangement of dead flowers, get out the glue and construction paper, make your own J.Cruel card, and send your mourning package to Mr. Drexler at the address below. Tell Millard that not only will you refuse to shop at J.Crew until it stops selling fur, but you’ll tell everyone you know to steer clear of the store as well.
