Who's Throwing Babies in the Trash?!

Let’s get one thing straight—eating eggs is cruel.

Chickens on factory farms often have part of their beaks seared off with a hot blade and are crammed so closely together into tiny wire “battery cages” that they are forced to urinate and defecate on one another.

And that’s not all—because male baby chicks are considered worthless to the egg industry, every year, millions of them are tossed into trash bags and left to suffocate or are thrown into high-speed grinders while they are still alive!

Want to help put a stop to this? Here’s how:
  • Spread the word about the cruel egg industry by writing, “The egg industry throws millions of male chicks into trash bags and grinders while they are still alive. GO VEGAN!” on a note and sticking it to your trash can.

Ever since I’ve joined Peta2, I’ve really wanted to go vegan. Like really bad. I promised myself that as soon as I move out, I’m going vegan. But the thing is, I’m only 13, and every time I learn more about this stuff, the more I know I can’t wait. How many animals am I going to murder before I’m 18? So, I know, I should go vegan now. The real problem is, we’re broke. I know that now a days, its more easier than ever. But it was hard enough to get my dad to quit eating meat (although he still chows down on chicken and turkey once and a while -.-). He’ll have to buy all my vegan stuff additional to his, and cook seperate meals. I know he’ll support me, but I don’t want to put him through the stress of always making sure everything he cooks is vegan. Once I get a job, maybe I’ll do it. But I can’t wait! HELP!

Beans, rice, potatoes, and veggies are all some of the cheapest, easiest to find, and healthiest things that you can possibly eat. Meat, dairy, eggs … those things are expensive! Check out our “$3 or less” recipes series for tips on cheap meals for your fam: http://www.peta2.com/?s=%243+dish+of+the+day.

You don’t have to place the sign on the lid. Just anywhere on the trashcan works. :)

Just get permission from your principal or teacher first since anything at school would be considered private property. :)
