The Los Angeles Unified School District is reportedly using glue traps for rodent control despite knowing that these traps cause an enormous amount of suffering and a traumatic death for the animals they catch.
Victims of these traps (also known as “glue trays” or “glue boards”) often rip themselves to pieces in their frantic struggles to escape the sticky mess. Exhausted and terrified, they die of shock, dehydration, asphyxiation, or blood loss—and death can take days.
They’re also dangerous to human health. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as Health Canada warn against using glue traps because of disease risks caused by the pathogens in the urine and feces of stressed rodents—a risk that students and faculty face whenever schools use these cruel devices.
Please contact the Los Angeles Unified School District and urge officials to join the countless school districts and universities that have sworn off glue traps!
