Street Team staffer Sara and I are huge movie and celebrity junkies, so it’s no surprise that we tuned in yesterday to watch the 2013 Academy Awards. Check out our favorite moments of the night:
The stars got to chow down on delicious vegan food—including kale salad with grilled artichokes and vegan pizza—at the Governor’s Ball. I’ll pass on the little golden statue—just give me one of those plates!
© StarMaxInc.comAnne Hathaway won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress (go, Anne!), but that’s not the only reason why she was our favorite gal of the night. Just see what she had to say about being nominated: “the success of the film and my personal success…this has just been the cherry on top of a wonderful, wonderful dish of vegan ice cream.” We agree, Anne, we agree! Oh, and did I mention that she rocked some vegan pumps on the red carpet?
Joaquin Phoenix ♥ animals, and we ♥ him! The Oscar nominee used his impressive acting skills to speak up for the billions of fish who are slaughtered for food every year in a new PETA public service announcement. The commercial was banned from running during the Oscars because it was deemed too “controversial.” Check it out to see what it was all about!
Other PETA faves abounded both inside and outside the Dolby Theatre, from Best Actress nominee and vegan Jessica Chastain and animal adoption advocate Charlize Theron (anybody else catch her super-impressive dancing skills during the show?) to fur-free Olivia Munn and fashionable Kelly Osbourne. These celebrities prove that there’s nothing more fabulous than being kind to animals!
Did you watch the Oscars? What was your favorite part?

In my culture a cow is a holy mother I’ve never eaten meat in my entire life and I’m sure the Indian actor in “Life Of Pi” hasn’t either

Cheers to Anne Hathaway…the girl is a glamorous compassion goddess!
The Red Carpet rocked, including the gents…Christoph Waltz and Daniel Day-Lewis in navy blue tuxes were soooo impressively stylish!
When does peta2 get to do live streaming coverage of the Red Carpet with a cruelty-free cam??
