The weather’s warming up, the daffodils are starting to bloom again, and I can finally leave the house in a T-shirt and flip-flops without regretting later that I didn’t grab a sweater on the way out. This can mean only one thing: Spring is in the air!

Tomorrow is the first official day of this gloriously beautiful season, which also means that spring break is right around the corner for students across the country. Want to really make your spring break count this year? Don’t spend it passed out on a beach somewhere—spend it helping animals!

Here are six easy ways to help animals over spring break:

1. Go vegan—This is a no-brainer, right? Not only is going vegan a great way to get fit just in time for bikini season, you’ll also be saving more than 100 animals each year and helping reduce climate change! Plain and simple, going vegan is a great way to start off your spring break!

2. Leaflet around town—Grab some friends and some leaflets, and hit the streets! If you’re headed somewhere on vacation this year, take advantage of the different locale to spread the word about animal rights to a whole new audience!

3. Host a veggie-rific sleepover—Have some friends over for a sleepover, and impress them with your mad skills in the kitchen! Spend entirely too much time gushing about your favorite animal-friendly celebs, and then top off the night with a movie pre-snooze.

4. Read a book about animal rights—I know, I know. It’s spring break, one of the few times during the school year when you don’t have to read a book if you don’t wanna, but c’mon! There are a ton of great AR-friendly books out there, and they’re all calling your name. (My faves are Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer, Free the Animals by Ingrid E. Newkirk, and Animal Liberation by Peter Singer.)

5. Watch an AR-friendly movie—You may not know this, but there are tons of movies out there about animal rights, healthveganism, and food! Take a night or two (or seven) to watch a few!

6. Organize a protest—It’s never been easier to organize your own protest against McDonald’s, KFC, the fur trade, etc., and spring break is a great time to get out there and speak up for animals! Just e-mail us at [email protected], and we’ll send you all the free materials that you’ll need to get started.

Be sure to e-mail us at [email protected] to let us know what you did to help animals over your spring break!

Happy spring, y’all!

I’m a republican, but I do get angry at republicans for not caring about the environment!

Another way to help animals is to get off your butt and actually hands on help living animals! Go to a local NO KILL animal shelter or rescue and devote time to these animals that are living. Honestly it’s the best thing you can do to change the world. Stop wasting time worrying about animals that die and help some animals LIVE!
