Artwork That Can Change the World!

Meg Viola, an awesome Street Teamer, used her artistic talents to raise awareness of animals who are treated as if they had no feelings or will to live—animals on fur farms and factory farms and even wild animals who are at risk of being hit by cars.

So great, right? This is what Meg had to say about her artwork:

I wanted my art to be funny and shocking. By putting the animals in the normal human role, it really makes people think about what we are casually doing to these animals.

They see skinless, headless human bodies with a hook through their feet, and they think, “Oh, jeez, that’s horrible! Oh, wait—we do that to cows all the time.”

I made each piece so the viewer would feel like they are a part of the drawing. I wanted them to be right there, drinking champagne with the lovely fox and her human-skin scarf or right in the boat with the fish who caught a full-grown man.

This way the viewer is really putting themselves in the animals’ shoes and realizing that the way we treat animals is casually disgusting sometimes.

Meg’s artwork is inspiring, thought-provoking, and sure to turn heads! Remember that we all have different talents and skills, and YOURS are important and needed to help us make a difference in the world! :)

If you haven’t joined the peta2 Street Team yet, what are you waiting for?! It’s a great way to get started, meet other like-minded students, and learn about animals!

You can ALWAYS e-mail us at peta2@peta2.com if you have ideas you’d like to share, want to order materials to pass out to your fam and friends, or just need a pal to talk to. :)

Tell us about your talents in the comments section below!

Hey Meg! Do you sell your work. :] This is a very disturbing but artful way to get the message across. It really shows how wrong the actions are by using people, and then in turn they can put the actual meaning together. The instant shock and realization afterwards that it isnt just art and a drawing. It’s a painting of the truth of what animals have to suffer by the hands of humans. Add me ^.^

Thanks for featuring a supercool, animal-defending artist! I love that she puts the issue front and center in a really thoughtful, creative way. Do what you love and help animals too!

As a kid, I was and am still curious about the great big world we live in, and I thought nothing of animal abuse. But for some or no completely good reasons, I was getting sicker and weaker. Then one day I heard about PETA while I was on the internet. I got a little curious, and I went veg after finding out meat was one of the reasons I was sicker. Right now, I'm still trying to give up meat for my health. But I'm getting there!
