Artwork That Can Change the World!
Meg Viola, an awesome Street Teamer, used her artistic talents to raise awareness of animals who are treated as if they had no feelings or will to live—animals on fur farms and factory farms and even wild animals who are at risk of being hit by cars.
So great, right? This is what Meg had to say about her artwork:
I wanted my art to be funny and shocking. By putting the animals in the normal human role, it really makes people think about what we are casually doing to these animals.
They see skinless, headless human bodies with a hook through their feet, and they think, “Oh, jeez, that’s horrible! Oh, wait—we do that to cows all the time.”
I made each piece so the viewer would feel like they are a part of the drawing. I wanted them to be right there, drinking champagne with the lovely fox and her human-skin scarf or right in the boat with the fish who caught a full-grown man.
This way the viewer is really putting themselves in the animals’ shoes and realizing that the way we treat animals is casually disgusting sometimes.
Meg’s artwork is inspiring, thought-provoking, and sure to turn heads! Remember that we all have different talents and skills, and YOURS are important and needed to help us make a difference in the world!
