About Me: I grew up in Southern California a punk rock sk*8r grrl in with an insane love of books, social issues, and the power of music. I have a rather impressive passport, an even better record collection, and the best chocolate tofu pie recipe under the sun!

I Like: Music, food, books, bowling, proper grammar, collecting vinyl records, hot tea, sea horses and bats (and all other animals too!), dinner parties, tattoos, trying new dessert recipes, and peta2.

I Hate: Cruelty, foam soap, racism and prejudice of every kind, nü-metal, apathy, and soggy pizza.

Favorite Bands: Against Me!, Mogwai, Cobra Skulls, Refused, Leftöver Crack, Wanda Jackson, The Dwarves, Bruno Mars, The Specials, Lucero, Morrissey, Detroit Cobras, American Steel, Skinny Puppy, Janelle Monae, The Lawrence Arms, Cancer Bats, Descendents, K’Naan, Saul Williams, William Elliott Whitmore, and a million others.

Favorite Books: The Jungle, Fight Club, Queen of Kings, Faking It: The Quest for Authenticity in Popular Music, The Prophet, Lord of the Rings, Mandela, Devil’s Knot, Sex Drugs and Cocoa Puffs, Fast Food Nation.

Why I Went Veg: Years ago one of my favorite bands, Goldfinger, put out a new album with a CD-Rom music video (yes, it’s been a long time!) that they had made for PETA. I’d never thought about how the animals I was eating every day made it to my plate but after watching “Free Me” and seeing what happens to animals on factory farms and in slaughterhouses, I immediately decided to go veg!

My Companion Animals: I’m way too much of a jetsetter right now to give a lovey dovey dog or cat all the attention they need, but I am a very proud “Aunt” to many adorable animals at my friend’s/parent’s/brother’s houses. Plus, I volunteer at the local animal shelter where the lonely, homeless dogs and cats need the most love. :)

Favorite International Food: Vegan Poutine! This Canadian delicacy takes crispy French Fries and smothers them in gravy and tops it off with (vegan) cheese curds. There is nothing better!

My Most Embarrassing Moment:  At lunch one day I bit into a cherry that was so juicy it squirted my friend in the eye in the middle of our conversation!

Little Known Fact: I am the French Fry Eating Champion of the World! In between our daily anti-fur demonstrations on a PETA tour through the Pacific North West, I challenged our Action Team Coordinator to a Fry-Off. It was a close race but I still managed to eat half a basket of fries more than him. I don’t know if that title holds up everywhere, but I am definitely the French Fry Eating Champion of the World of THAT tour.
