Hello all – I’m currently on the road with one of PETA’s interns named Eric.
We attended the Demand Liberation
student conference in Austin, TX this weekend. As they always are, the conference was a blast. Young activists from all over the region made the drive to University of Texas-Austin for a weekend of workshops, partnering up with other activists, and at the end of the weekend, a demonstration as part of the KentuckyFriedCruelty.com
campaign. Take a look at the photos
from the Student Animal Rights Alliance.
Sunday night, after a quick stop at Austin’s Mother’s Cafe for veggie burgers and chocolate cake, Eric and I started our week of Wet Seal demos, driving to Tulsa, OK for a demonstration with 5 local activists.
Tulsa’s channel 8 ABC news came out to cover the event. Eric and I are not the types to call it a day at noon – after the demo in Tulsa we got back on the highway and drove North for Wichita. There we were met with the friendly faces of a few Kansans (that’s a word right?)
Eric donned his Cupid costume, grabbed his bow and arrow, and held his “Wet Seal, Have a Heart: Stop Selling Rabbit Fur” poster high and proud. We handed out hundreds of leaflets and reached countless Wichita residents driving by.
Check back tomorrow to hear how our demonstrations in Overland, KS and Omaha, NE turn out.
