All the way from Piscataway, New Jersey, John Bradley and Scott Scharinger from Dads came by peta2 HQ for two of our favorite things: acoustic songs and vegan chats!

@wearentdads

That’s right—John and Scott are vegan, and they told us all about what enlightened and inspired them to change their lifestyle. Check it out, and also enjoy a special, exclusive acoustic version of their song “Take Back Today.”

“I learned from very early on [that] a dog is no different from any other animal that you can care about.” —John Bradley

What inspired you to go vegan? Was it a book, a band, a documentary? Let us know in the comments* below!

    I was inspired to go vegetarian because I met these animal rights activists who were passing out leaflets at a concert, then I went vegan a few months later. 🙂

    I went vegetarian after reading Animal Rights by Patricia Curtis, and then I went vegan after reading about it on Peta2!

    It was actually PETA and I had no idea what vegan was or easy it would be. It was kinda awesome because I thought my headaches were common and I would be fine.

    About six years ago my Aunt gave me Alicia Silverstone’s “The Kind Diet”, and upon reading and visualizing the cruelty involved in meat and dairy products, I decided to make the lifestyle change.

    Doing a project on factory farming inspired me to become vegan 🙂

    I went Vegan as a personal challenge to myself and never went back. Some of the things that have and continue to inspire me are the documentary Earthlings, my favorite cookbook The Veganomicon and Emily from the Bite-Size Vegan youtube channel. I’ve been vegan for over 2 years now and couldn’t be happier!

    I was actually very unhealthy for most of my teenage years, I was uncomfortable with my body, and had indigestion all the time, I went vegan to make myself feel more comfortable, and along the way I started to realize how much I was helping out animals, and went to spread the word to all of my friends, a lot of whom are now vegan themselves!

    I went vegan after I had a friend who was vegan herself and she told me about her lifestyle. And as I looked further into it, I tried it out. A year later, I’ve never felt better and the vegan lifestyle makes me feel like a completely reborn person.

    What made me go vegan is in the summer of last year kalel cullen uploaded a video to youtube titled ‘I just don’t understand’ in it, she encourages people to watch a video called ‘if slaughter houses had glass walls’ on petas youtube channel. Prior to this I was vegetarian, but I had no idea what the animals who weren’t slaughtered endured. I decided that day to become vegan and while I’ve only been vegan for a little under a year, I’m sure I’ll never look back.
