Meet some of the animals who didn’t make it to the store near you—because they were too injured, neglected, or dead. Next time you want to purchase an animal from PETCO, PetSmart, or some other pet store—think of them.
District Attorney Paul Howard has reportedly told his office to stop its investigation into the neglect and abuse at Sun Pet—even though a worker was seen (and caught on video) putting live hamsters into a bag and then bashing the bag against a table in an attempt to kill them (it didn’t work—one of the animals was seen suffering and panting heavily minutes later). Howard’s office has had this and much more video for more than two months and has yet to charge anyone in the case.
Please click here to demand justice for these and other animals peddled for profit by Sun Pet. Respectfully ask Mr. Howard what he thinks constitutes cruelty to animals if it’s not bagging them up and bashing them against a table and then leaving them to suffer and slowly die of their injuries.
I have a hamster I got from someone who could not keep her. I had never had a hamster before and was a little in the weeds at first. Now I love this little critter. She is amazing to watch and to play with; so smart and so curious. A gift from God, for sure. To see someone killing them off this way because they “had too many” sickens me. These animals should not be even taken from the desert and sold to people this way. Most people don’t respect them, just consider them “throw away” pets when the kids get tired of them or don’t take care of them. No living creature is a “throw away”; not even those you don’t understand or care for. Not even the ones you can’t pet or play with. This is an abomination. I will make sure everybody I know knows about it, for sure. I want these people punished.
People that treat animals badly are the scum of the earth. They need to be arrested and thrown into jail to rot. After all, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated” – Mahatma Gandhi.
@Little_Lotte says: “I don’t understand how someone people can hurt innocent animals”
Well, that’s easy. They are not people. They are not part of the human race. They are lower than insects… and they don’t deserve to be treated as human beings… simply because they aren’t.
If you’re not part of the solution you’re part of the problem and if you don’t do something to stop this than you approve of it. Stop allowing sickos to do this activity and allow a corporation to make money while causing helpless animals to suffer and die painful deaths. Pretty soon a majority of the population will be like that peace of scum and the majority of our corporations will be unethical like Sun Pet since our law enforcement can’t be bothered doing anything about it.
Such behavior constitutes animal abuse and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Just because the perpetrators work for a major corporation should not exempt either the person or the company from being held criminally liable.
D.A. Paul Howard, ARE YOU ON CRACK? Why has there been no ARRESTS? PROSECUTION? ACTION of ANY kind except to STOP the investigation of this case??? You have had AMPLE evidence to DO YOUR JOB on this case! WHY DON’T YOU?????
We should nurture compassionate thought. Since we wish to live, we should not kill any other living being. Furthermore, the karma of killing is understood as the root of all suffering and the fundamental cause of sickness and war, and the forces of killing are explicitly identified with the demonic. The highest and most universal ideal of Buddhism is to work unceasingly for permanent end to the suffering of all living beings, not just humans.
