And the winners of the World’s Kindest Dad contest are:
My father survived an abusive childhood and continues to cope with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Despite this, he has raised three healthy and caring children. He taught us about compassion by building birdhouses, burying deceased animals, and purchasing humane mousetraps.
When his children became vegetarians, he listened patiently to their views and sincerely respected their choices. Today he also boycotts the meat industry, an industry which is responsible for unimaginable animal suffering. As a result, his personal health has improved and he has been an ideal role model for his children.
This Father’s Day, let us remember the virtues of the world’s kindest dads: compassion, patience, and respect for all creatures.
My name is Tyler Boone and I am going into my third-year at Baldwin-Wallace. For Fatherﾌs Day, I thought I would do something different than the standard tie. I wanted to publicly thank my father. I have been a vegan for nearly three years and my father, although he isnﾌt one, has been among the strongest supporters of my lifestyle.
Every time I go home for the weekend or a holiday, he has a lot of food not made from animal products ready for me. This includes such foods as pastas, Gardenburgers, Hummus, Tabbouli, and even gift certificates to the store in case I wanted something else. His support makes me feel so good because the last thing that anybody needs is for their parents to ridicule them.
Historically, my father has also refused to take me to the circus. Before I was able to learn the same facts for myself, he said that the animals were badly cared for and he felt uneasy about having animals be exploited for entertainment.
Although I do not get to see him that much, my father has been a nice pillar of support for me in my vegan lifestyle and supports me in everything I do.
Thank you dad!
I have the most amazingly kindest dad, Kevin. Two years ago when I decided I would become a vegan, he and I had our most profound talk ever. He asked me if this was something I was truly passionate about, and when I said yes, he vowed he would come a vegan too. So here we are two years later, two vegans in the most happiest pod ever. I have the world’s kindest dad, because not only does he love and support my choices, but he respects me enough to help him make his.
