I swear, coming in to work at PETA is like having Christmas every day.
I never know what to expect when I open my email inbox each morning. You can imagine my excitement when I opened it today to see that Duke University has encouraged its entire student body to go vegetarian this month!
Here is the exact email sent out by the Office of the Executive Vice President:
To: Students, Faculty and Staff:
Eating vegetarian is good for your health and the planet. Studies show a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes with a vegetarian diet.
A vegetarian diet also produces less of the greenhouse gases that are causing climate change. Plus, eating vegetarian can usually save you money compared to eating meat.
Don’t worry if you’re not a fan of salad, a vegetarian diet is much more than veggies and we’ve got the delicious recipes to prove it.
In February, we challenge you to try eliminating meat from your diet, whether it is for one meal a day, one day a week, or for the entire month.
Accept the Green Devil Challenge by pledging to eat vegetarian.

Amazing, right?
To help with the transition, we’ve offered the school thousands of free “Meat’s Not Green” leaflets and vegetarian/vegan starter kits, reminding students how easy and tasty meatless meals can be!
I don’t know about you, but I know who I’ll be cheering for in this year’s Final Four …
