When we were tipped off that Susan and Saher of the indie rock duo Galt Aureus were caring and compassionate animal lovers (and vegan!), we asked them if they’d hook us up with a video interview so that we could learn moreabout them and why they’re so awesome.
Instead of a traditional interview, what we got from Susan and Saher is even better—an original song! Check out “One Hundred Thousand” now!
We have Galt Aureus’ latest CD, Citadels, and a T-shirt up for grabs! For your chance to win, let us know in the comments below what inspired you to go vegan. Good luck!
*The winner will be chosen at random from submitted animal-friendly comments in which the commenter tells us what inspired him or her to go vegan. Entries must be received by July 30, 2012. The winner will be chosen at random and notified on August 3, 2012.

Well let's just say life ain't always beautiful but it's a beautiful ride. I love all my pets and would do anything for them. I have one dog, two cats, a ferret and my babygirl shaymin,(the cutest hedgehog alive) I'm into all different kinds of music. I'm a singer myself and love art.
Father loves to farm, be self sustainable, loves to read, he's a antiques/vintage auctioneer, art student, and looks like mr. Rogers. My mother is a Montessori teacher and is amazing with children, all about local organic foods, loves gardening, cooking etc. my sister who is nine years older than me was into indie music and introduced me to all sorts of things at a young age. This all rubbed of on me and from that base I grew into similar things. I'm an INFJ
I love animals about as much as rock, heavy metal, tea, and coffee. Hoping to make a difference and help animals through PETA!!!
I'm tall, a geek, nacho - obsessed, I love sewing and Cath Kidston, also I'm vegetarian (wannabe vegan.)
I want to get into marketing but not have to rely on people which have different morals and worldviews than I do to hire me. While I'm figuring this out, I want to show everyone what I believe in and spur them into action against injustices.
I am Angela. When I am not helping animals I am listening to music, reading, or playing video games. My spirit animal is a fox and I love nature. What else is there to know? Want to know anything about me, need advice or anything message me :)

I was a vegetarian for over a year before I went vegan. At first my body decided for me to go vegetarian because I started getting sick when I ate meat and lost desire to eat it so I stopped. Over time I started looking into my new diet more, researching and learning everything I could. Eventually I was brought to Peta2 and I saw the videos… I decided I was half way there and I’m not a half-ass job kinda person so I decided go big or go home and went vegan!

I have been a vegetarian for 3 years now. What inspired me the most to do it was my great grandmother, she told me “never give up on the things you believe in, stand up and take charge.” And after her passing 3 years ago, 3 months after that I decided to go full on vegetarian, at first I didn’t get very much support from my family, I would always here, “it’d be so much easier if you’d just eat meat again, that way we don’t have to spend extra money on extra food for you.” And you know, it never bothered me one bit, because I’m the biggest animal lover in the world and I don’t listen to what others say about me being a vegetarian, because I did it for myself and the animals. They need a voice and I’ll be that voice. I first heard about peta when I was in 7th grade because we watched a video on animal testing, I was one a very few people would actually broke down. That video broke my heart and that’s when I then went on to peta2′s website and learned about more ways I could help animals besides being a vegetarian. And I’m proud of myself for taking the step and sticking up for animals.

I was inspired to go vegan when I heard about some of my favorite artists who were vegan or vegetarian. Eventually I checked out the peta2 website and signed up for the street team, so I can try to help animals in need. At Warped Tour I learned even more about peta2, and it justr confirmed that this was what I needed to do with my life.

I had been a vegetarian for quite some time. My parents friends and family weren’t quite please but aside from that I realized it was quite easy to not eat animals. I had always thought that just being vegetarian was enough… until I joined peta2′s street team! I had started learning more about the dairy industry and how terrible it really was. I soon decided that being vegetarian wasn’t enough and i switched to being vegan. It was tough at first since there are dairy products in almost everything! but that only made me more determined to try and help these poor creatures.

I was surfing through the web and came across a ‘From Farm to Fridge’ video. I watched it and it was horrible…before that I had no idea what happened to animals. After I watched it I became a vegetarian and a strong activist. (:
I’ve been a vegetarian for over a year now and I love the feeling of saving lives.

What really inspired me to go vegetarian was seeing all the horrors of the food industry in movies, articles, and videos. I saw how horribly those animals were treated and I couldn’t be a part of it!

After a lifetime of animal guardianship and increasing participation in animal defending campaigns, going vegan was just the right thing to do. And it was easy, with more and more fabulous vegan chefs sharing recipes, cruelty-free companies producing great products and organizations like PETA supporting the lifestyle. Cheers!

My parents went vegan for health reasons and so did I a first, then I learned from peta and peta2 how much animals are mistreated, not only for meat production, but for fashion etc.. I have 6 turtles, a tortoise, and 2 cats which include my precious rescue Cass. I have a love for animals and I learned from Peta2 that by going vegan I can save 100 animals per year! Imagine how many kitties I would have if I rescued that many!

I went veg when I found out about Peta2 and all of the cruelty involved with it! Unlike some of the other tradgeties in the world like war, this can be touched! It is in hand’s reach for us to hold on tight to our beleifs and never let go. Never let anybody pull us down. And we have the opportunity to end the abuse of animals being killed. Even 10 year old’s can do it. YOU can get people thinking. You can start a new path for others to follow. And if I could do that, what was I waiting for? It’s stupid not to. So I am overjoyed to see so many others in the fight to end the cruelty and abuse NOW! If they can, what are the others waiting for???

The reason I went vegan was when I found my dog (someone left her for dead at my familys’ farm), I found out people could be cruel enough to starve, abuse, and leave a puppy for dead without a second thought. This made me start thinking, and thats when it clicked! I was helping kill animals by eating them! I went vegertarian right after that without giving up once, when i got home (we were in a diffrent state) i looked up Peta2 because one of my sisters friends (who is now a ex-vegetarian) was talking about it. This is where i found out the real problems with the meat, dairy, and egg buessniss. about 8-9 months after going vegetarian (after a lot of begging) I convinced my mommy to let me go vegan! now its been half a year and i havent givin up! so thanks, you guys at peta2 changed my life for the better <3

i’m actually a vegetarian going vegan. what is inspiring me to go vegan is the animals used for dairy products go through just as much as the animals we eat. so if i claim to love animals, then why am supporting mother cows being separated from their babies and being forced to have babies?

After going vegetarian for the love of animals I learned of the cruelty in the dairy and egg industry from peta2. I simply didn’t want to be of any part of any cruelty. I went vegan and am very proud. [: Thank you peta2 for informing and fighting! <3 (I LOVE this duo already..)

I think what inspired me to go vegan was just knowing the torture that animals go through for human consumption and that I could help to change that by going vegan. I must give props to peta2, because I was a vegetarian when I signed up.. without peta2, I wouldn’t have had the knowledge and inspiration to go vegan. Thanks guys!
