The meat industry is not smiling. Four letter words are flying. Heads are spinning Exorcist style. What’s the deal? Technomic’s College and University Consumer Trend Report, a nationwide campus survey, just surfaced, revealing that 21% of students now limit their meat consumption/eat meat only occasionally, or have adopted a vegetarian or vegan diet—that’s what!
This is hardly a surprise though, considering all across the country the vegan buzz is loud and clear: A study by ARAMARK, a leading food-service provider, concluded that one in four college students are actively seeking out vegan options when they sit down to eat.
Campus Dining Services are reporting that vegan options are the top requests that they are receiving. Last spring, our Campus Outreach Crew gathered 70,000 student signatures supporting our petitions for vegan options. Schools from UC Santa Cruz to the University of Florida are now adopting Meatless Mondays programs. And! In exciting recent news, the University of North Texas opened an all-vegan cafeteria.
Coincidence? We think not! Veg is the new black and it looks guuuuud.
