So you’ve decided to go vegan, huh? CONGRATS! Now where do you start? Well, to kick off your compassionate dining, you start right here by entering to win a copy of PETA’s Vegan College Cookbook!

Father loves to farm, be self sustainable, loves to read, he's a antiques/vintage auctioneer, art student, and looks like mr. Rogers. My mother is a Montessori teacher and is amazing with children, all about local organic foods, loves gardening, cooking etc. my sister who is nine years older than me was into indie music and introduced me to all sorts of things at a young age. This all rubbed of on me and from that base I grew into similar things. I'm an INFJ

Well let's just say life ain't always beautiful but it's a beautiful ride. I love all my pets and would do anything for them. I have one dog, two cats, a ferret and my babygirl shaymin,(the cutest hedgehog alive) I'm into all different kinds of music. I'm a singer myself and love art.

Definitely a good vegan sandwich! My favorite to make is with sourdough toast, vegan mayo, sliced onions, avocado, lettuce, tomato, pepper, nutritional yeast, and a slice of grilled marinated tofu… Mmmm I want one right now!

Quinoa. I will eat it with ANYTHING! Lettice, other vegetables, beans, hot, cold, with a sauce, without. It is delicious and I hardly ate Quinoa until I became vegan.

Grilled portobello mushrooms in a lettuce rap seasoned with vinegar, salt, black pepper, and olive oil with cucumber and parsley juice its just amazing just talking about it makes my mouth water <3!!

I obviously haven’t had most vegan foods but Im working on it. I haven’t been vegan long enough for all of the cool recipes and stuff! Anyway, my favorite vegan foods would have to be: pasta with vegan butter and nutritional yeast, homeade pizza dough (vegan, of course) with pasta sauce and daiya, and tofu! I had amazing garlic crusted tofu squares for dinner tonight! I made oven roasted cauliflower and sweet potato fries to go with it. Mmmmm. <3

My favorite vegan food is vegan pizza with baby spinach, mozzarella daiya, mushrooms, tempeh, and this vegan crust me and my boyfriend get from Wal-Mart. It is the best home-made pizza you’ll ever eat. It’s better than Mellow Mushroom (restaurant in Myrtle Beach).

Zucchini Lasagna is my absolute favourite! I made it for my (non-vegan) family and they LOVED it! Make your favourite tomato-based sauce, layer it between boiled, but still firm, zucchini, bake on 325 degrees for 15 minutes. Enjoy! I put orange peppers and asparagus in my sauce for some crunchiness!

Gluten free, Vegan Sloppy Joes. (Child hood remembered, I’m drooling just thinking about them.)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small onion (or 1/2 of a large), diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 green bell pepper, diced
2 cups textured vegetable protein TVP – (see above for other suggestions
instead of TVP)
1 28-ounce can of organic crushed tomatoes
1/4 cup organic tomato paste
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce (make sure it is gluten-free and vegan)
1-2 teaspoons sriracha sauce (optional)
1 teaspoon liquid smoke
1 tablespoon stoneground or wholegrain mustard
1 tablespoon maple sugar
3/4 – 1 cup water
Salt and pepper to taste
Heat olive oil in large saute pan over medium heat. Add diced onion,
green bell pepper and garlic, saute for 5 to 8 minutes.
Add the TVP, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce,
sriracha sauce, liquid smoke, mustard, maple sugar, 3/4 cup of water, salt
and pepper to the saute pan. Lower the heat, cover and simmer for 40 –
45 minutes. Stirring often. You may find you want to add more water if it
seems too thick. Serve on gluten-free/vegan hamburger rolls.

Hi! My favorite vegan food is homemade from scratch pizza! I make my own dough and put tomato sauce, dayia cheese, and a bunch of vegetables on top! It’s delicious and filling. Also, it is so worth the wait!

my favorite Vegan meal is the Chocolate peanut butter smoothie. I had my mom make it for me when I was sick, and I fell in love with it. It tastes like a real chocolate peanut butter shake even though it was tofu. it was really good. I would recommend this to EVERYONE!!!!!

My favorite vegan dish is the green bean casserole that was on the peta2 website for Thanksgiving a couple years ago. Even my meat-eating family asks me to make it for them every year! I’ll be going to college in a couple years and if I got this cookbook now I could become familiar with the recipes and know which ones will become regulars when I’m cooking for myself in college!

I love finding those good tasting and healthy foods. Making vegan food is easy and I can’t pick any favorite vegan food. Plus I’m always willing to learn and try new things
