Another Circus Plans to Phase Out Elephant Acts!
This is exciting news, but four more years of misery under the big top is too long. Elephants used in circuses are often beaten with bullhooks and forced to perform dangerous, uncomfortable tricks, and George Carden Circus International has been repeatedly cited for violations of the federal Animal Welfare Act, including for endangering the public and failing to provide elephants with adequate veterinary care. PETA is calling on the circus to end its elephant acts now and on owner George Carden to send the elephants to sanctuaries immediately so that they can live out the rest of their lives in peace.
The circus’s announcement comes just a month after Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus announced that it plans to phase out its elephant acts by 2018. Ringling also cited public disapproval as one of the reasons for its decision. This means that directly because of caring people like YOU who spoke up, elephants will soon get some relief from their miserable lives in the circus.
Never be silent! Together, we can help animals in the circus!
Never go to any circus that uses animals, and urge all circuses to retire the elephants TODAY. Remember: Your voice makes a difference!
