When I went to my local animal shelter I learned about how many different types of animals they care for. I also liked how friendly the people were and how many programs they have for people to help animals. I think the best thing to see though was that this was the new animal shelter. The old one is just a field now and how nice it was for the animals, it cost $10 million to make!

My rescued senior budgie recently died. It was heartbreaking and sudden. While I was adopting him, I noticed the vast number of animals at the shelter. There were numerous dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, ferrets, even a selection of fish! And just several miles away, people are buying sick animals at Fin, Fur, Feather, a notorious animal-abusing pet store. Luckily, it was closed last month. I realized, that not only should cats and dogs be adopted, but that there are animals of all kinds waiting for adoption. Don’t go to pet stores (except 4 supplies). Always adopt. Never buy.
