Any of you watch the Today Show this morning? If you did, you saw one awesome horse toss his ninny jockey onto the track. LMAO!

As you know, the Kentucky Derby (AKA annual “horse beater” convention) is this weekend and The Onion’s “Steam Room” commentators have weighed in on their “favorites”:

Jockey Liam Hollins The Favorite To Brutally Whip Horse To Kentucky Derby Win

Thanks Onion! We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

im not saying its a good sport its terrible how many horses get hurt or die from it so dont get mad at me im just saying that not all the trainers and jockeys are evil and cruel even tho the sport is cruel its self maybe it would be less cruel if they changed it i mean horses love running my horse runs around all the time but this sport kinda takes advantage of that.

And being a horseback rider I have to agree with Megan on what she said. Although I do realize that most jockeys are cruel, there ARE some that aren’t who love their horses.
Even so, whips should be banned from racing, the tracks should be grass, horses below the age of FOUR should definately not be able to race, and horse slaughterhouses should shut down forever.

I don’t know about anyone else but I didn’t see anything about the horse throwing the rider off.

Megan: Anyone who uses horses for racing are exploiting them, it doesn’t matter if they whip them or not – ALL horseracing is wrong.

Megan, the fact is that we shouldn’t be exploiting these animals for our entertainment or for profit. It doesn’t matter how they’re trained or how they’re treated, the injuries and death of horses per year is shameful. It is the nature of the “sport” if you wish to call it that. And shame on you for attempting to justify an industry built on greed, pain, suffering, blood, and death. Exploitation is exploitation.

even if that was meant as a joke it was far from funny.

ok i dont really think this is funny my uncle has racehorses and he’s not like that if he heard the jocky was doing that to one of his horses he would beat the crap out of them not all trainers and jockeys are mean like that y are u makeing it seem like that? instead of makeing fun of them and punishing them y cant u just reconize all the good trainers and jockeys? ur not being very fair .
but i do think that the way some jockeys whip their horses is very wrong but now most jockeys get introuble for that.

Born and bred in Britain. I've always lived with animals and loved finding out new information/ caring about them. I currently do eat meat although I am not a huge lover and I do intend on going vegetarian when I'm older. I've always wanted to support charities and I am the head fund raiser at my school. I am looking forward to supporting Peta and becoming a member of their Street Team!

I am 13 years old and joined the street team June 2015. I am a vegetarian. I have a passion for working to help save animals. I love my family and my 2 pugs, Daisy and Diesel. I plan to work for Peta or Mercy For Animals someday because they helped me become a vegetarian and begin a whole new life of having common sense towards all animals.
