A few weeks ago, we told you about the Matthew Eyton Scholarship Award, for which two people will be chosen to receive $500 to go toward interning at PETA. For those of you who have been slacking, busy, or thinking that you don’t have a chance at winning, we have extended the deadline! That’s right—you now have until Friday, November 16, to apply!

Here’s how to apply:

  • Write us a 1,000-word essay about why you want to intern at PETA. Please be sure to write your best, so watch for grammar and spelling errors—and be creative!
  • Send the essay and your résumé to InternApplicants@peta.org with “Matthew Eyton Scholarship Award Application” in the subject line.

Get to writing, friends! Best of luck to you all!*

*This contest is open to people only in the U.S. who are 18 to 24 years old. Two winners will be chosen by PETA staffers from submitted essays in which entrants use 1,000 words to explain why they deserve the scholarship to intern with PETA. The scholarship winners will be chosen based on experience in the animal rights movement, creativity, spelling, grammar, and overall dedication to and understanding of animal rights. Essays and résumés must be e-mailed to InternApplicants@peta.org with the subject line “Matthew Eyton Scholarship Award Application” by November 16, 2012. The winners will be chosen and notified by November 20, 2012. The award money cannot be used to purchase anything containing animal products. Award money will be sent to recipients once an agreement form is signed, which will state that the money must be returned if the intern is unable to meet the requirements of the internship (working 30 to 40 hours per week for a minimum of 30 days, completed within six months of receipt of the award). No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited by law.

Heads up! By entering, you’re acknowledging that you’ve read and you agree to our contest terms and conditions and our privacy policy, and you’re also agreeing to our collection, storage, use, and disclosure of your personal info in accordance with those policies as well as to receiving e-mails from us.

As a kid, I was and am still curious about the great big world we live in, and I thought nothing of animal abuse. But for some or no completely good reasons, I was getting sicker and weaker. Then one day I heard about PETA while I was on the internet. I got a little curious, and I went veg after finding out meat was one of the reasons I was sicker. Right now, I'm still trying to give up meat for my health. But I'm getting there!
