Yep, you heard right. In 2012, countless (they literally don’t even count them!) mice and rats are forced to inhale smoke and have tar rubbed into their skin, and then they are dissected for flavor additives and tobacco ingredients—even though we’ve known for decades that cigarettes kill.

Humans choose to smoke. But, animals don’t have that choice, so peta2 is asking you to raise your voice this summer and urge the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ban all tests on animals for cigarettes and tobacco products.

Oh my gosh you’re kidding! This is terrible! How could anyone do that to an animal? We know cigarettes kill, and making an animal sick does nothing to make a product safer. Nothing anyone can say would make this at all okay. Hurts you, hurts the animals, and as far as I can tell the only reason it’s happening is so that maybe one animal out of thousands that doesn’t die of cancer can be touted as proof that smoking is safe for humans. This stuff never stops disgusting me…

it’s ridiculous to make tests on animals because we are not the same.. at all. what works on a rat, might not work on a human, and therefore we are just wasting poor innocent, and beautiful lives. lives with potential. its so sad.

WHat they are doing is repulsive and the negative impacts of cigarettes do not come over night but after years! So torturing innocent, defenseless animals to prove that something is not dangerous when actually it is is a clear manipulation of people who cannot distinguish what’s good for them and what isn’t!

I now have another reason to hate smoking and smokers! Like the fact that it kills people, damages the unborn, destroys the environment and much more is not enough! What is wrong with the world that all the cons cannot out number your stupid ‘craving’! Innocent die every day for you to take that on puff that will cause you to not have that little bit of a craving that has proven your weak addictive nature! Yea you read it WEAK! Only people to weak or stupid to realise the effect your habit has on the people, animals and planet around you carry on smoking!

I agree with you 100%. Where do the people that work in these places come from? I don’t understand why everyone who works in the live animal industry hates animals. What kind of person does it take to stick their fingers in a terrified cow’s eyes, or to suffocate or grind up live baby chickens, or slit the throat of a live animal, or beat a dog to death. Who are these people? I’d like to meet them and show them how I feel. They make me sick and very, very sad. I hate them.

i never even thought about the fact that cigarettes are tested on animals. i’m not really a smoker at all (i’ve never had my own pack) but i smoke occasionally with my friends at social events when they light one. I definitely won’t be sharing their cruelty cancer sticks anymore. If it wasnt enough that it hurts me, its enough that it hurts animals too.

As a vegetarian (i eat vegan most days) i never use any product that is derived in the slightest way or tested on animals or harmful to there environment.
As a smoker i’m wondering if my money is going to testing or not, i smoke amber leaf tobacco and im assuming they just use it for producing a brand at first so they aren’t currently testing? Is this true or not?
