Major UK retailer Selfridges recently pledged to stop selling the so called “delicacy” forever. Foie gras, for those of you who don’t know, (which I’m pretty sure is most of you, because foie gras is disgusting and eaten mostly by older, snooty people!) is made from the engorged livers of ducks and geese. Eat someone’s fatty liver? … I don’t think so.
Tubes are shoved down the birds’ throats several times a day to force-feed them grain and fat, which often punctures their throats, resulting in tissue damage and internal bleeding. Watch as Kate describes the horrors behind foie gras.
Please share this video with everyone you know and spread the word that there isn’t anything chic about foie gras.

Father loves to farm, be self sustainable, loves to read, he's a antiques/vintage auctioneer, art student, and looks like mr. Rogers. My mother is a Montessori teacher and is amazing with children, all about local organic foods, loves gardening, cooking etc. my sister who is nine years older than me was into indie music and introduced me to all sorts of things at a young age. This all rubbed of on me and from that base I grew into similar things. I'm an INFJ
I'm tall, a geek, nacho - obsessed, I love sewing and Cath Kidston, also I'm vegetarian (wannabe vegan.)
Well let's just say life ain't always beautiful but it's a beautiful ride. I love all my pets and would do anything for them. I have one dog, two cats, a ferret and my babygirl shaymin,(the cutest hedgehog alive) I'm into all different kinds of music. I'm a singer myself and love art.
I love animals about as much as rock, heavy metal, tea, and coffee. Hoping to make a difference and help animals through PETA!!!
I want to get into marketing but not have to rely on people which have different morals and worldviews than I do to hire me. While I'm figuring this out, I want to show everyone what I believe in and spur them into action against injustices.
I am Angela. When I am not helping animals I am listening to music, reading, or playing video games. My spirit animal is a fox and I love nature. What else is there to know? Want to know anything about me, need advice or anything message me :)

I have never tasted fois gras. Although I have heard of fois gras, I had no idea what it was. Nor how it’s served, taste or … even where it comes from. I recently watched a documentary about the government approval to ban fois gras in the state of California. After learning about this so called ‘delicacy’ I cannot believe how utterly horrible the treatment and cruelty for these birds for the sole purpose of eating ‘fois gras’ . I ask you… do we need to have fois gras to sustain us? The answer is: No. The birds ‘exist’ under cruel conditions for the sole purpose of ‘fois gras’. It is one thing to allow the ducks to live, fly, walk and have freedom to move even if they are killed for food. But to have them suffer while alive under conditions that confine them to cages immobilized and have them force fed with a pipe shoved down their throats several times a day…for the sole purpose of ‘fois gras’. This is inhumane existance and inhumane practice…even for animals. Take a minute to view the attached video by Kate winslet. I can only stomach watching this for a few seconds as tears come to my eyes. Canada continues to buy, sell and serve fois gras. This must stop. We must legislate And criminalize activities involving production to serving fois gras in a civilized country that is intelligent and knows better. A petition will be circulated in the near future asking for your signature to ban this practice.

Thanks Patricia for posting this! I am going to link it to everything in which I’m involved. I would also like to comment that even “older” people, like myself are not necessarily into foie gras. That is a bit ageist. You have all my support!

Awh, those poor birds.
The practice reminds me of the part in Iron-Jawed Angels where Hillary Swank is in prison and force-fed uncooked eggs by the guards and personnel through a tube that they pushed down her throat. I thought it was disgusting in the movie and I think it is disgusting in real life, no matter who or what you do it to.

Before becoming a vegetarian I ate foie gras a couple of times and it is so disgusting. How can it be considered a delicacy? It’s horrible how people are so numb to animal pain. I hope production of foie gras can be banned in the US soon.

I’ve been telling my family about foie gras after they served it on ‘Come dine with me’, some of them had no idea what it was!
