Those are the words of No Idol’s “Belief” from their full-length album Low (Swing the Pyramid Hands). Hailing from Syracuse, New York (the home of Earth Crisis and … no, wait, that’s all that matters), the band has been described as having “a real social and political grip on life”. We recently chatted with singer Ryan Canavan about what made him go vegan.
peta2: What made you go vegetarian?
Ryan:It was actually on a bet from a friend that I couldn’t do it for a week. Once the bet was over I just enjoyed the lifestyle so much, and learned so many things that I kept it up and eventually went vegan!
peta2: What’s the best thing that’s happened to you because you’re a vegetarian?
Ryan:Learning about all the environmental damage animal exploitation causes, as well as the benefits of a vegan diet, and generally feeling that not only am I feeling physically healthier about my choices, but also as if I am doing something to better the earth in general.
peta2: Who would win in a fight, you or Colonel Sanders?
Ryan:I’d whup that ‘ol Colonel over the head with a frying pan and make him think twice about opening another franchise!
