During my stint on Warped Tour this summer—in the midst of an unrelenting heat wave that punished the Northeast for most of July—I was able to sit down with vocalist Greg Dunn of Triple Crown Records outfit Moving Mountains. The band’s impressive second full-length release, Waves, should be considered a serious contender for top honors on Album of the Year lists across the board. Starting next month you can find them opening for Thrice on the band’s headlining U.S. tour. Leading up to that are a string of dates with No Sleep Records wunderkind La Dispute on the heels of their new release, Wildlife, and we’ve got tickets up for grabs!
Check out our interview with Greg to find out what influenced him to adopt a vegetarian diet and his advice for fans looking to make the healthy and compassionate switch to a meat-free diet.

I love Moving Mountains and La Dispute. I live in Indiana, so very few concerts actually come through, and this would be the highlight of season. Last concert I went to was Warped tour, and that was a while ago. I know I am not saying much right now, but why say what I like and what I will do at the concert when I could simply do it. This music to me is the expression of the hardcore I love, with the raw. newer energy of this progressive and experimental sound that runs rampant with beauty. I go to school and work full time. It is hard for me to do much, but concerts are one of my biggest passions and I would more than happily skip something just to see all of you guys live.
P.S. I would buy a shirt.

Indianapolis, IN : September 25
To start off, I should win these tickets because September 25 is my birthday and I’m celebrating the night by seeing La Dispute. I’ll bring my license to prove it.
Not only that, but my friends and I are embarking on a journey to see them. First, we will be traveling from KY to Champaign, IL on Saturday for Polyvinyl’s 15th Anniversary show. After the show on Saturday we will be driving to Indianapolis to sleep wherever we can and then plan to see La Dispute and Moving Mountains Sunday night (my birthday), then driving back to KY after the show is over. It will be a long weekend, but so worth it for so many great bands.

I’d absolutely love to go to the Indy date, because La Dispute really helped me through a hard time. The girl I thought I was going to marry cheated on me, and shortly after I found them. At the bottom of the river really helped me through it. It was a great way to vent my anger and their lyrics just really got me. I’ve loved the band dearly ever since. And I haven’t heard moving mountains, but relient k, one of my favorite bands, said they were the best band on warped, so I’d love to hear them live.

Colorado Springs, CO; why should I win? Possibly because Moving Mountains is my favorite band ever, and I need a little break in my life for some fun. A Moving Mountains concert trip would be an awesome way to get away from school and just relax and bond with my dad.

I’ll be going to the show regardless of winning the contest or not!
But you should give me the tickets because a couple years ago, when La Dispute needed a place to stay in denver after a show, I offered my house (along with beer and pizza!). I’m more than happy to do the same again this year if La D, MovMou, O’Brother, or even Thrice need a place to stay as well
Also I’m a huge fan of all the bands to be honest. I’ve been listening to MovMou since the earliest days of Pneuma. Every time the come through town I bug Greg to listen to a demo that my very good friends in Quiet Eyes Road (now From Fragile Seeds) made after hearing MovMou for the first time and being so inspired that they rehauled their entire sound to incorporate their new influence.
I’ve got tons of shirts and merch by all the bands and any money I save on tickets is going directly to the merch table to help support the bands anyways. At some point in the near future when my budget stabilizes somewhat I plan on getting two tattoos related to these bands – the Foreword logo (http://images.channeladvisor.com/Sell/SSProfiles/82056366/images/15/movingmnts_foreward.jpg) as well as some lyrics from La Dispute’s song “nine”.
Pretty much I’m a huge fan and this is a dream line-up for me. Nothing could keep me from this show (the Colorado one, that is!!) but I’d love some free tix too!

I would be incredibly happy to win the Missouri tickets. It would mean the world.
I fell in love with the melodic brilliance of Moving Mountains the moment I heard their music.
They will forever be one of my favorite bands.
I love every album they have released. They are like stories, and I like to listen to them that way. Track by track every time, with the volume very high. Plus,Gregory’s lyrics are powerful. They really do inspire me in different ways.
I live in Kansas City, and I have only gotten to see them live once at Warped Tour this year.
I hope to see them every time they play near here.
I don’t know when they will come any closer, so this is my chance to see them perform again.

Colorado Springs, CO – I should win because when the new MM album came out, I spent the entire night listening to all the songs and drinking microbrews with friends!

I would absolutely love to go to the Springfield, MO date.
I’m currently a film student at the University of Kansas, and this spring I’ll be graduating. My ultimate goal is to create music videos, documentary, and video tour blogs for touring bands. Moving Mountains and La Dispute have had such an immense impact on my music taste, and also the themes I seek out when reading novels or watching films.
Moving Mountains’ new album is perfect for late night drives. La Dispute’s “Somewhere at the Bottom…” got my through some of the emotionally roughest times of my life. In this way, I’d like to pay them back for helping me out so much.
If I were to receive the tickets to the Springfield, MO show, I would film each of the band’s sets and edit/publish them online for the public to view. It’s really the least I can do for a few artists who have impacted my artistic life more than anyone else.
P.S. Ordered the La Dispute Deluxe package for Wildlife. CAN’T. WAIT.

La Dispute and Moving Mountains have both been a big part of my life since I was introduced to them a couple years ago (both bands). La Dispute has been therefore me when no one else could, that sounds all sorts of cheesy I’m sure. I found myself able to connect with lyrics like I have never been able to before, It felt like someone was reading my mind and giving me words to speak. Moving Mountains has like La Dispute helped me to see the bigger picture in life and be able to throw all of my cynicism and stress out of the door and see the positives in the world around me through nature and community. Everyone should try listening to Moving Mountains on a long bike ride at night. It’s nice to be able to be able to plug in and feel at home. I would love to see these bands on Septemeber 27th, Colorado Springs
That all being said, you should give them to Collin O’ Toole cause it’s his birthday that day (other guy that commented wanting them)

I’d love to go to the Indianapolis show because I need a night just to let loose. I have been constantly busy at school with programming since I am an Resident Assistant and not had a night just to myself and a friend since the end of summer. I haven’t been to a show in forever because of my work and school schedule but have nothing planned on that Sunday. I am burnt out from school and work already. Please Peta2 let me go to Moving Mountains & La Dispute for free! I need a night to enjoy myself!

You should give me the tickets simply because my birthday is September 27th, and there would be no better gift then to see two of my favorite bands free of charge.
Graciously yours,
Collin

Why should I win?
Well, I’m an MFA creative writing candidate at Butler, and both Moving Mountains and La Dispute have irrevocably altered how I approach my craft. Pneuma and Foreword have been the background music and inspiration to a number of my short stories, and Jordan Dreyer’s lyrics have completely changed how I write poetry.
I’m also currently working on a short story concept based on my own interpretation of Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair.
And so, I think seeing these two bands who have had a more pronounced influence on my fiction and poetry than great authors would be an incredible and inspiring experience.
Plus, I had to move to Indiana to attend Butler, and there’s nothing to do here, so show tickets would be much appreciated.
