Mustache Monday Band Edition: Catalepsy
In the spirit of our “Grow Your Own Fur” campaign, we thought we would check in with a few bands that have some serious facial “fur.” Look no further than Orlando, Florida’s metal/hardcore hybrid, Catalepsy! The entire band is vegetarian (and has some facial hair that I can’t even grow), and they don’t like what they do to animals used for their fur. Read on!
What’s so wrong with fur?
The thing about fur that is enraging is the fact that it’s what animals use to stay warm in the winter. These animals are hunted and killed so that humans can wear their fur when humans can wear anything else cotton, etc. It just makes no sense and is extremely senseless.
Have there been any bands, artists, or books that have influenced your views on animal rights?
Why did you decide to go vegan/vegetarian?
The uncompassionate mentality needs to end. People just want to kill innocent creatures for the satisfaction of eating something that kills them and gives them cancer. Killing animals, for food, or for fur, is totally pointless.
Are there any other animal rights issues that you feel passionate about?
We just feel like whatever the type of animal, they should all be treated equally and fairly. Killing off thousands of innocent creatures for no reason at all is just completely barbaric. We believe that pets like cats and dogs are just as much a part of this world as cows and chickens. They should have just as much of a chance at life.
What advice would you give to your fans who want to get more involved with animal rights but aren’t sure where to start?
Stop eating meat. Plain and simple. If you don’t want animals to be tortured, don’t eat their rotting, dead flesh.
