New Animated Sitcom About Vegans on ABC!

Who caught The Goode Family on ABC last night? For those who didn’t see it, The Goode Family is the new animated sitcom from Mike Judge (the genius behind King of the Hill, Beavis and Butt-head, and Office Space). The show centers around a vegan family, and I have to say, I thought it was pretty funny.

The show is about a family (mainly the parents) trying to live an obsessively politically-correct lifestyle. My favorite parts of last night’s episode:

  • At one point, the mom declares, “I only shop at stores with a mission statement.” Hah!
  • A “Meat is Murder” tee made an appearance.
  • The awkward conversation about race between the Goodes and their neighbor.
  • The death stares Helen got from fellow shoppers for not using a reusable bag.

Some activists might be offended by some of the humor, but the show is bringing veganism into the mainstream. And sometimes you just have to learn to laugh at yourself, right? What did you guys think of the show?

Marta

P.S. I hear next week’s episode is called “Pleatherheads.” Can’t wait!

There’s vegan dog and cat food and it’s actually healthier for the animals too.

Very funny and entertaining. I do think that some vegans would be offended but everyone could use a little laughing at themselves
    Am I right?!?

I think it is quite funny. Even though some people find it offending, I mean come on people you have to have a chuckle here and there :) Besides, this is the one way a lot of people are going green and looking towards veganism!

I loved it. I think it was all in good fun and not offensive. I got my mom to watch it too. She thought it was funny. I doubt it will last on t.v. though.

    I saw that last night!
I think a lot of it was offensive, but I still thought it was funny. And it wasn’t just veganism, but their whole lifestyle.
The only thing was that their dog was [supposed to be] vegan, which I think is totally messed up, since dogs are carnivores.
I liked the part about how the son wanted to drive for his birthday, and they were like “with more emissons comes more responsibility”

I don’t think the show was singling out veganism but everything about the green movement.
Frankly I say everyone should be offended King of the Hill was canceled for The Cleveland Show. :(
