Happy October 1st!

Along with the (beautiful) chilly weather, pumpkins, and of course the best holiday ever, October is home to “Cut Out Dissection” Month!

This month, we’ll be giving you tips every week on how YOU can fight dissection at your school. We’ve also updated our campaign page with more information on what to do if you already live in a state that offers you a policy (there are 14 states!), tons of videos and examples of alternatives, and a guide for how to replace dissection completely at your school.

Your first mission? Share peta2’s brand-new “Top 7 Reasons To Cut Out Dissection” on your Facebook, MySpace, Twitter … wherever! Send a screenshot to StreetTeam@peta2.com and we’ll give you 1,000 points!

This video means the world to me. When I was a freshman in highschool, my teacher had a whole garbage bag full of skinned cats. When I asked where they came from, she said they were strays that were caught, killed, and skinned for our use. You’re damn straight I didn’t! I started bawling my eyes out and tried to attack her. I had to go to counseling for a week because of it. It hurts me because any animal, mostly cats, that I’ve ever had were strays until I adopted them. And, to think that when some of them didn’t come home, they could have ended up on someone’s lab table for dissection. It’s SICK. Cats are part of our families all over the country. Would you dissect you’re little sister? I don’t think so..

Disection is sick. We can get computer progams instead of killing poor animals.

Im so so happy that at our school there’s no dissection at all.
We are having e.g., and that’s grose. There are like snakes, little birds inside some kind of liquid and they are there for many years…
It’s still mean and cruel, but i guess it’s better than kiliing them. :(

This was very well done, I’m impressed.
Some of my friends have decided to help me with the stopping of Animal Dissection in Schools… hopefully my principal will understand and take charge as well.
I wish all my luck to everyone else out there that will be doing the same! :)

I love this video. They should show this in all classrooms before deciding to dissect.

When I was in high school (about a thousand years ago) we were going to dissect a frog in biology class. I got up in front of the class about 5 min. before they started dissecting and said “I believe killing animals for dissection is wrong, so in order to protest this I’m going to leave school for the rest of the day. Anyone who wants to ask me questions about it tomorrow, I’ll be happy to talk about it then.”

The teacher failed me for the assignment plus I got put in “in-school suspension” for the next day, but after I came back to class I found out that a bunch of the other students took a fail rather than dissect the frogs that day (mostly the girls). Some of the students who went through with it asked me about it and I explained why I feel it’s wrong.

I refused to dissect a frog in my 1992 science class. I received an F for refusing to do it.

    THANK YOU!!!
Recently in one of my science classes my teacher said we were going to do a dissection and I refused to and when everyone asked me why i didn’t want to i didn’t know exactly how to put it.
    Lots of love xoxox

In anatomy we are dissecting cats and I’m not participating in the lab. I’d rather cut class that a cat, so I just don’t do anything. So many cats!

I tried saying no last year in biology so my teacher called my mom and said he would fail me if I didn’t slaughter the innocent froggy. D: I cried the whole time. My mom finally gave up she gave me a zero but it was worth it. I even lost my phone and couldn’t do anything for quite a while becaus eit was immature -_- it’s not as easy as it sounds to stand up for your beliefs/opinions. Especially not in a small town in the south filled with people who hunt for fun. :(

In high school we had to dissect Squids, Fetal Pigs and LIVE CHICKEN EMBRYOS. he wanted us to crack open the eggs on dishes and watch their tiny hearts beat in their half developed bodies. I totally refused to do any of these and my lab team was pissed. I’m sorry that really cruel as well as gross. Can’t we just make a computer program on the ipad to simulate this kind of thing?

We also got to go to a morgue and see a human autopsy, but that was actually kinda cool.

Last year we had to do this stupid experiment, I didn’t think there was a way out of it. So I just sat there and did the written part and didn’t even touch the frog. Now it’s good to know that I choose not to do this.

Last year, my sophomore year in biology, it was mandatory to dissect. I told my teacher I wasn’t going to do it, and at first she was mad and was going to fail me, but finally came to terms with it. She realized I was being serious and decided to just give me book work. The rest of the class really didnt even understand, even the other vegetarain in the class. I thought that she would be against it like me, but I guess not. I’ve told many people how I refused to dissect and that everyone should too, because there are safer alternatives and you can save tons of frogs and cute piggys. Anyone who has to dissect in the future I am trying to convince not to because its unhumane! This video will be an absolute great help to my cause to help stop from dissection.

As a kid, I was and am still curious about the great big world we live in, and I thought nothing of animal abuse. But for some or no completely good reasons, I was getting sicker and weaker. Then one day I heard about PETA while I was on the internet. I got a little curious, and I went veg after finding out meat was one of the reasons I was sicker. Right now, I'm still trying to give up meat for my health. But I'm getting there!
