Who’s excited for this week’s peta2 Book Club pick? I am! Here’s my pick this week:
Skinny Bitch was a gift from my mom several years ago. To this day, it’s a book that I recommend to anyone looking to eat healthier or learn why factory farming is cruel to animals and destructive to our environment.
The authors, Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin, don’t sugar-coat it. In fact, they have a whole chapter on avoiding certain foods such as soda and literally fatal fads such as cigarettes. The book discusses the importance of exercise to keep in shape and release those endorphins that make us feel good physically and mentally.
Freedman and Barnouin remind readers that diets like Atkins are no good for our bodies and actually cause harm. Have you ever heard someone tell you that we are carnivores? Well, I have, and thanks to Skinny Bitch, I can tell that person exactly why humans aren’t carnivores. I won’t spoil it if you don’t know. 
Toward the end, you’ll find tasty vegan alternatives to virtually everything, a meal plan, and a list of bad ingredients (aka ingredients that may contain animal products).
Overall, this book is an entertaining, simple, and educational read. The authors even have a version—Skinny Bastard—for men as well as workout videos, a cookbook with yummy recipes, and more!

This book helped me make the switch to veganism! I loved it!
