peta2′s NCAA March Madness Picks

I like to attend a lot of sporting events, but it’s very frustrating going to all the different food courts to see what’s vegan and what’s not. Do any of you have this problem as well? Well, if you’re a fan of college basketball, I’m here to help you out! The bracket for this year’s March Madness tournament has been announced, and I want to share peta2′s favorites with you … based on the food that the schools offer in their stadiums. Sure, none of the upcoming games will be at these venues, but why not get ready for next season?

Here are the schools that we like (in no particular order) based on the food options they offer where home games are held:

  • University of Kentucky (UK): Like to keep things simple? UK offers some sandwiches and salads for you to snag, so don’t worry about eating unhealthy here.
  • University of Connecticut (UConn): Looking for more traditional food options? UConn has some awesome choices, such as veggie burgers, soft pretzels, soups, and black-bean and corn nachos.
  • Duke University: You can’t have fun at a game without some snacks! Duke has popcorn, chips and salsa, hummus, cotton candy, snow cones, and more.
  • Syracuse University: If you’re looking for a vegetable wrap, pretzels, and chips and salsa, Syracuse has you covered.
  • Florida State University (FSU): If you want my opinion, FSU should get the trophy just based on the food that it offers! Veggie burgers with a number of toppings to choose from, hummus, pretzels, fries, fruit salad, pasta salad, and other snacks are available at home games.
  • Gonzaga University: Wanting to get down on some noodles? There’s a made-to order-noodle station where you can ask for veggies rather than flesh.
  • West Virginia University (WVU): Sometimes we all have that craving for a good old-fashioned PB&J. WVU offers that for those who are craving one at games as well as pretzels, popcorn, veggie wraps, fruit, and more.
  • Ohio State University (OSU): Runner-up for my favorite might be OSU. Any school that offers a vegan-friendly panini is A-OK in my book. It also offers veggie wraps, salads, fruit, pretzels, and other tasty treats.

Are you lucky enough to be heading to one of the games this month? The Georgia Dome was on PETA’s Vegetarian-Friendly Stadiums list last year, so be sure to snag a veggie burger or a veggie dog if you head to any South Region games! Going to one of the Midwest Region games in St. Louis? Be sure to grab a veggie dog for me while watching my favorite team, the Boilermakers.

Not going to the games? Make some tasty grub at home using recipes from peta2′s blog! Eat on, friends.

Too long to explain here, it's long enough for a novel.

Father loves to farm, be self sustainable, loves to read, he's a antiques/vintage auctioneer, art student, and looks like mr. Rogers. My mother is a Montessori teacher and is amazing with children, all about local organic foods, loves gardening, cooking etc. my sister who is nine years older than me was into indie music and introduced me to all sorts of things at a young age. This all rubbed of on me and from that base I grew into similar things. I'm an INFJ
