As a group of students screamed in horror and begged him to stop, a police officer in Mesquite, Texas, pepper-sprayed a tiny baby squirrel outside Kimbrough Middle School. The officer claimed to be worried that the squirrel had rabies, but animal control officers who cleaned up the squirrel before her releasing her said it was unlikely she had the disease.
The Mesquite Police Department says it is looking into the incident. Please take a moment to e-mail Derek Rohde, Chief of Police, and ask him to take disciplinary action against the officer whose cruel actions traumatized and set a horrible example for the students.

I have always lived in Los Angeles but my family and I went to Mexico for my parents wedding. So we came back to LA. I don't like LA but were here already what can I do unless I move out and find my own housing. I have always liked animals and it was til I was like about 14 when I learned about tests they do on animals and I began to explore animal cruelty because I was interested it in it. I have watched videos that just broke my heart so that's why today I'm doing all I can to not buy anything that has harmed an animal and I'm vegetarian .
I'm tall, I love sewing, fashion and the environment, also I'm vegetarian (wannabe vegan.) Obviously, I love animals! :)

It’s just a f’ing squirrel. Why would you have to spray it? It was porbably just hungry. They can’t do much damage to a 250 supposibly grown man. How stupid can this guy be? That’s cruel.

This man????? obviously cannot be trusted to hold such an important position in society. What would he do if he thought a human baby had AIDS? I shudder to think. Police should have a higher IQ than 5.

That’s disgusting.
It sucks that he’s a cop… cops are oh-so-special so you aren’t allowed to do something against it. But no one ever said you can’t stand in the line of fire. That would never fly at my school. We have TOO many animal rights activists here and that cop would be screwed. D<
This pisses me off. That officer should have known better than to spray an innocent animal. If you THINK it has ANY signs of rabies, put something over it and call Animal Care Services. THEY'LL tell you properly. Just keep everyone inside. Jeez… what has become of this world..?

I HATE THAT GUY!!!! If I was a student there, I would have grabbed the pepper spray out of his hands and either run away or spray it at him. I wouldn’t care how much trouble I was in.
