I can’t even count all the times my mom said to me, “You are what you eat,” when I was growing up in an attempt to get me to eat my veggies. Sorry, Mom—turning into a giant Sour Patch Kid seemed like such a good idea at the time. But as I got older, I realized that this famous phrase was totally true (no, I’m not typing this with sugary, gummy fingers—I wish!)

Animals on factory farms are fed drugs that fatten them faster. In addition, animal products contain much more fat than plant-based foods, and adult meat-eaters are, on average, 10 to 20 pounds heavier than adult vegans.
Along with hurting your health big time, eating meat supports the slaughter of pigs and cows who have their throats slit while they are still conscious and able to feel pain. I mean, c’mon. People who still eat flesh after knowing that look like total a-holes—which, by the way, is sometimes an ingredient in hot dogs. You are what you eat, people. You are what you eat!
But don’t worry. You can avoid all these health problems—as well as looking like a total meanie—just by going vegan! Plus, you’ll get to enjoy all the perks of being vegan, like having radiant skin and lots of energy and looking like a total cutie for being kind to animals! 😀
