We loooove animal-friendly fashionistas here at peta2—and obviously we love music!—so it was a match made in heaven when up-and-coming singer/songwriter Renee Yohe of Bearcat came knocking on my (e-mail) door. Renee’s retro style and sultry sound are intoxicating, as fans will soon discover when she hits the road with peta2 besties Never Shout Never this spring. Before you read on to find out the beauty secrets to her success, check out her Facebook and Kickstarter pages to learn all about this next big thing and how you can help her out!

Salutations, my dear animal lovers and fellow fashion-savvy wenches! As someone who adores adorning my body, I live in anything and everything that expresses and accentuates who I am and how I feel, and I’d like to give you a few worthwhile tips.

I adore a soft, natural finish over my makeup. It’s perfect for any occasion, whether I feel like stepping it up a bit for special events and photo shoots, etc., or just having a feel-good addition to my daily routine. If you desire to feel that your face is natural and flawless without the concerns of clogged pores, chemicals, and all the other atrocities found in the makeup department, allow me to recommend Origins makeup, and all their products from skin care to bathroom luxuries to makeup. Recently I was the unsuspecting recipient of an unsightly series of scratches to my cheek (thank you, asphalt and clumsiness, you unmerciful jerks). A woman named GiGi at the Origins shop in Daytona Beach pointed me to a beautiful remedy. May I proudly introduce to you Dr. Andrew Weil‘s series of incredible products that specifically reduce redness, freckles, and scars and soothe sensitive skin?

First, begin with the Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Face Cleanser, and then follow with toner. From there, proceed to the skin-relief advanced face serum, which calms, soothes, and improves the resilience of your beautiful skin (great for those lady folk/any folk suffering from rosacea). Follow up with the skin-relief soothing face cream, and finish with the skin-relief mask, which serves to expedite the reduction and elimination of any unwanted redness or blotchiness disrupting the beauty of your face. :)

When it’s time for makeup, I prefer thick black-cat eyeliner and eye shadow if I’m feeling extra bold or have the additional time to waste—one of my favorites being mostly any matte color from Mac Cosmetics. But then the final touch remains …

I’m a big lash girl; full, flirty Twiggy/Edie-esque batty lashes are my thing. Let me introduce you to a new favorite—Too Faced‘s Size Queen Mascara will give you the spellbinding false-eyelash charm, whether you possess them already or wish to give the illusion (who wouldn’t?!) that you do. I would emphatically add any shadow by Too Faced, Urban Decay, Smashbox, and Studio Gear. Or to keep a cushion in your pockets, try my absolute all-time favorite eyeliner, Revlon ColorStay black eyeliner—it’s pretty much married to my eyelids. ;)

Now, you are ready to make your entrance into the world feeling comfortable and very much yourself without drag queen foundation lines to fret over or clogged pores, should you have too much fun and pass out before you wash your face … not that I recommend that! Ha-ha.

*****

Thanks, Renee, for these fabulous, cruelty-free recommendations for my makeup bag! And, readers, don’t forget that if you’d rather go it alone and save some dough, peta2′s got you covered with tons of DIY beauty tips for looking your best.

I have always lived in Los Angeles but my family and I went to Mexico for my parents wedding. So we came back to LA. I don't like LA but were here already what can I do unless I move out and find my own housing. I have always liked animals and it was til I was like about 14 when I learned about tests they do on animals and I began to explore animal cruelty because I was interested it in it. I have watched videos that just broke my heart so that's why today I'm doing all I can to not buy anything that has harmed an animal and I'm vegetarian .
