Inspiring and compassionate trendsetter Stella McCartney has stocked shelves around the world with her modern, feminine designs for H&M, Adidas, and her own namesake line. Her designs keep the most famous movie stars on best-dressed lists (hello, Charlize, Penélope, and Kate!), but best of all, Stella and her award-winning collections are proudly free of leather, fur, and other skins.
Stella’s already revealed the horrors of fur, and now she wants you to learn the facts about leather’s extreme cruelty, environmental destruction, and human health costs and pledge never to wear dead animals’ skins again!
Watch Stella’s exposé of the global leather industry to find out who your leather bag, belt, or shoe once was:
The leather industry is a global killer. Purchasing the skins of cows raised in the U.S. likely paid for the horrors of factory farming, including castration, branding, tail-docking, and dehorning—all without any painkillers. Leather sourced from developing countries such as India and China may have caused untold suffering—such as the dismemberment of cows while they were still conscious—since animal welfare laws there are either non-existent or not enforced. Tanning, the process of turning skin into leather, requires massive amounts of energy and dangerous chemicals, including formaldehyde and coal-tar derivatives, which can end up in nearby water supplies and soil. These toxic chemicals pose a deadly risk for those who work at the tanneries and for humans and animals who live nearby. Learn more about the leather industry’s victims around the world:

[...] fur of a tortured dead animal is glamorous?! But animals also suffer and die for down feathers and leather. Yet just like with faux fur, there’s a huge variety of cruelty-free down and leather [...]
i would never wear fur, just stopped buying leather bags, wallets and shoes as well. just purchased a stella wallet and 2 bags, beautiful and cruelty free. i am just curious as to why stella still uses wool and silk which are equally cruel? Stella GO VEGAN all the way!!!!
How would you know for sure if the leather is real? .. Anyway it is wrong to kill animals for leather & clothes in my opinion, because we don’t need to have an animal rapped around us to live, there are so many clothes that are just fine to wear. Like the UGG boots I have a pair of boots that look just like them but they aren’t made of sheep & they are cheaper! That’s why UGGS are 100$ or a lil more or less, it’s reallu upsetting.
I will admit it, I have a pair of leather combat boots that I purchased before I became vegan and while I was vegetarian I really regret it now because I know I could have pretty easily found a cool faux leather pair and because they remind me of how much of an asshole I used to be all the time that I wear them now :/ I still do wear them, however, because I do not think that throwing them out would make it any better and, on the contrary, would make me feel like I wasted that life, which would be even worse. I have since purchased a vegan leather corset though and I love it :3 I am really disturbed by leather clothes that come in direct contact with people’s skin because they literally wear someone’s skin on top of their own. EW!
that’s is great and i have purchased her wallets and bags but she still uses wool & silk…..which has its own cruelty involved. let’s get her to change that as well.
I wouldn’t wear leather or fur as i don’t want to be responsible for an animal suffering so i can wear it. There are lots of alternatives now including fake fur etc. which is just as good.
i dont and would never wear leather because it’s just so horrible. as children we learn to treat others the way we would like to be treated, but where along the line do people lose sight of this? i would not want to be treated like the animals who suffer every day of their lives to be a needless hunk of meat on a dinner plate, a fur coat, or leather shoes; so why would i partake in this cruelty?
I don’t eat meat or wear fur. Why would I want to add to the misery of these poor animals by wearing leather? Never. I don’t understand vegetarians or vegans who wear leather. I do not believe that animals are placed here for our “use”, rather we are placed here to protect and respect them.
Father loves to farm, be self sustainable, loves to read, he's a antiques/vintage auctioneer, art student, and looks like mr. Rogers. My mother is a Montessori teacher and is amazing with children, all about local organic foods, loves gardening, cooking etc. my sister who is nine years older than me was into indie music and introduced me to all sorts of things at a young age. This all rubbed of on me and from that base I grew into similar things. I'm an INFJ
Well let's just say life ain't always beautiful but it's a beautiful ride. I love all my pets and would do anything for them. I have one dog, two cats, a ferret and my babygirl shaymin,(the cutest hedgehog alive) I'm into all different kinds of music. I'm a singer myself and love art.
I want to get into marketing but not have to rely on people which have different morals and worldviews than I do to hire me. While I'm figuring this out, I want to show everyone what I believe in and spur them into action against injustices.
I am Angela. When I am not helping animals I am listening to music, reading, or playing video games. My spirit animal is a fox and I love nature. What else is there to know? Want to know anything about me, need advice or anything message me :)
