Cutting their teeth on upstate New York’s hardcore scene, Rochester natives Such Gold have become a name worth remembering in an increasingly oversaturated market. With two EPs under their belt, most notably 2010′s Pedestals, Such Gold is ready to make their mark on the heels of a much-anticipated full-length release. This summer, we caught up with drummer Devan Bentley in the midst of recording to talk about his vegetarian lifestyle and how animal rights influenced the punk scene:

This book opened my eyes to a lot of things. After reading this book I will find other places to take my son besides the zoo, the circus, or the aquarium. This was a very good read and one I would recommend to everybody.

I guess this is the best time to do this post, because in 35 minutes I will be changing my life-path to start a lifestyle as a vegan! (How exciting!) So now I will reflect on my experiences as a vegetarian. The first vegetarian I ever met was my ex-girlfriend…aka my first love. She was a devout vegetarian. I honestly didn’t understand it then, in fact, I constantly asked her to try meat again and such, not really understanding what that would mean for her convictions and the environment. She never faltered (to this day, and we are grown ups now!). I was inspired by her strength enough to live a poultarian lifestyle. I followed that way of life through high school, and it fizzled off when I took a year off to work.
A year ago I started at college for the first time. Many of the people I met were vegan. I admit my curiosity was not fully peaked until I read about Captain Paul Watson, a notable animal savior. When I read about his deeds, I checked out the PETA website, and basically bawled my eyes out at all the cruelty. I have never gone back to eating meat. I never want to! I am so excited to step out of vegetarianism (one step at a time) and make the full change!
I encourage everyone else to stay strong and save lives! Yay!

ive been vegan for almost three years now an im only fourteen
five years ago i finally got my dad to agree to letting me be a vegiterian after my parents divorced he thought it was a good outlet into being myself he agreed to let me do it after two years of being a vegiterian i decided to ask my dad if i could go vegan he said “honey im proud of you. you found something youblove an you have detiicated yourself to it. you have stuck up for yourself no matter what an you do what you believe in. im couldnt be more proud of you. you have my permission to be a vegan an whatever else you want because you show great detication to what you love” so its almost gonna be the third year of being vegan an fifth without meat. i hope to accomplish much over my many years ahead of me. an my dads new fiancee also supports me in my decisions. im glad to have such understanding parents(:

this is just so mean,ignorant, and selfish why would u get a pet if your not going to take the time to take care of them i would never do this to any of my dogs. Its sad to see how people can treat mans best friend and these babies still stay loyal to their “owners”
