Yep, animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment. And seriously, there isn’t a better time than NOW to get on board with a cruelty-free lifestyle—this is the kind of New Year’s resolution that could change your life forever!

I live in an area where meat in a main staple in all meals. I chose to become a vegetarian because my friend is an active Peta member and vegan and he showed me what is happening to not only animals we eat, but all animals, and the cruelty that face everyday. Animals have the right to be free and happy like the rest of us.

Some people get mad at me for being a vegetarian. I’ve been screamed at a few times. I start by asking them how they’ve feel. Then I explain that animals are tortured and go through extreme pain to be put on our plates and how I’m not okay with that. Okay, I’m so frequently asked why on earth I’d be a vegitarian. I always answer as follows: I am a vegitarian because I’m not cruel. I don’t partake in the abuse, slaughter, and greed that goes into eating meat. I don’t wear anything that is from an animal either. I only eat eggs because they werent fertilized. How on earth do YOU live with yourself when you do? Sure it seems hard but it isn’t. Just think about the animals youre eating. If it was not for the evolution of animals, we would not be here. We are animals ourselves, but we are supposed to be the sophisticate ones. I try to have someone explain how the great seas work, ask if they have ever scuba dived, discovered the nature of bees, wonderered how geese know each other, understood that they mate for life, realized how long the great turtles and elephants live, how smart dolphins and elephants are, how birds stay in formation in a flock, etc etc.
We don’t have the answers. Why? Because they are far far above us. They are not ours. Animals are why we need to believe in something(s) far greater than ourselves and to hold dear that respect for ever, even after we pass on.

My response to anyone that wonders why I’m a vegan is – I’m a vegan because I will not contribute to the cruelty and killing of animals because I do not believe in it. It doesnt make much sense if someone is eating a hamburger, and proclaiming they love all animals – you obviously don’t, if you did, you would realize that what you’re doing is wrong on every level. Goodness. I went veg 2 years ago. People wouldn’t stop asking me why I went veg. They kept saying if I went only veg to loose weight and to be healthy. I was shocked. I yelled “NO! Those are not the reason! That’s VAIN! I went veg for animals. Because I have a heart, and chose to stop consuming animals because the way these animals are treated and murdered is immoral and cruel and UNNECESSARY. I love animals. Eating a pig, is like eating your dog. Have you seen any videos of how animals are abused? HAVE YOU? Were you even aware that the food on your plate was slaughtered? Do you know that animals at this moment, as we’re speaking, is being slaughtered, hanged, drowned? No I didn’t think so. I chose to not be ignorant. I don’t know how people can continue to eat meat when knowing how a cow was hanged and gashed to death. So yes, I went veg because I love and care for animals. Sorry, I tend to loose it when people ask me. Would you like a sticker? I have some that say meat is murder.” And so I usually rant like that to people. I get a bit too passionately angry. I start by telling people that it’s better for the environment. The amount of resources it takes to produce a hamburger VS a superfood like kale is ridiculous. Not to mention that factory farms are disgusting; they feed our animals hormones and genetically modified food, and when their use of unsanitary practices results in diseased animals, they use more the above which gets passed on to us. Factory farms are also abusive in their exploitation of workers and cruelty regarding the life, living conditions, and death of all the animals. I don’t want them to see MY money! Animals suffer so much, and people don’t even think about that life and suffering when they bite into a burger, we’ve become desensitized and lost respect for our food. As well, eating veg is generally cheaper. It’s healthier too; have you ever seen an obese vegan? Eating this way is fun, you’re always trying new foods. Plus, there are plenty of vegetarian cultures. You can’t argue that humans HAVE to eat meat because we don’t. Eating animal products for 3 meals per day is very much a feature of modern western culture, it goes back to my point about the amount of resources it takes to produce meat and how many cultures simply can’t afford to waste so much. I am vegetarian because I’m concerned about animals, people and our planet, and I’m doing something about it!

I tell them it’s because I oppose the way that the meat industry has turned from raising living, breathing animals to creating product to be sold. It’s disgusting to me that animals are no longer looked at as sentient beings but as food that just so happens to have a heartbeat. I support the right for all living creatures to live long, healthy, happy lives. I have rescue animals in my home because I wanted them to know better lives than the ones they had previously. That said, who am I to condone taking the life from an animal that has known abuse far worse than any shelter dog or cat? I couldn’t call myself an “animal lover” in good conscience if I was anything BUT vegetarian.

I tell them that I have never recalled feeling healthier in my entire life. It’s not only a healthy choice, but a fulfilling one. I’m proud of myself for being veg. I’m proud of my connection with the animals of this planet. all I ever really need to say is that the animals just aren’t ours.

I tell them, “I converted because I love animals and think it’s cruel the way they are treated just so that we can have them served on our plate. We don’t have the right to end anyone’s life, especially not an innocent animal’s. It’s really not that difficult to be honest. You should give it a try. You’ll be saving hundreds of animals and your health.” So far I’ve had five of my friends tell me that they became vegetarians because they say how easy it was for me to be one.

I tell them I think its wrong because in science you learn that herbivores have teeth like ours and carnivores have sharp canines. Which means that are teeth tell us we are not meant to eat meat but vegetables and things like it.

I tell people I became veggie when I read a book, ‘Skinny B…’ and watched a movie, ‘Food Inc.’ in a short period of time and they together changed my life for the better! I feel so much better in my mind and body!

I am a vegetarian because I don’t believe in eating animals, when they cannot speak up or defend themselves against the cruel meat industry. I do not wear animals because it is not mine to wear.
As a vegetarian, I feel like I am making a bit of a difference in the world- but also because I do not believe in eating animals.

When peple ask me why i went vegan, i honestly tell them because eating someone elses body isn’t right, and then i end up telling them how they treat animals in factory farms and show them undercover invistigations that Peta has done. I give them a tone of leafltes with info and vegan recipes.

I tell them my reasons for being vegetarian: 1. I like animals too much to eat them. 2. I don’t believe in cruelty. 3. It’s healthier. 4. I wouldn’t want to get eaten by someone if I was an animal. Then I tell them just because i’m a vegetarian, doesn’t mean I starve. The end.(:
